Oral Wegovy Approved!

I saw a rumor that Eli Lilly's GGG Tri-Agonist III in phase 1 might be oral. Other orals I know about:

Viking Therapeutics oral vk2735 phase 2 blew away current orals (oral tirzepatide) -- 12% weight loss in 13 weeks vs 72 weeks for orfo. Phase 3 just started.

Astra Zenica has a GLP-1 daily oral in phase 2.

Novo has an oral amycretin in Phase 2.

Edited: Added details on Viking.

It probably wasn't compounded correctly, without the right binders to get past stomach acid. The Viking one is getting close to injectable tirz numbers, so they must have figured out how to bypass that.

Like I said, Kelly1976, some people are scared of needles. It could also be a good maintenance option. It might work for people who want to lose 8-15% of their weight. Won't work for me - need to lose more. But oral GLP's will be big.

I wonder if this oral form will show up on the gray market soon? Orforglipron is already there, so some manufacturers can make pills. This is an easier start for needle-shy folks...for better or worse.

I saw someone post about their first month on the Rybelsus. They dropped 5 lbs, mainly from some gastro issues. They said it was working, though!

Yeah, I get it. The lower cost of the oral version could open it up to more people too. I saw it might be around $150, which is way better than the injectables.

Patient education is super important for the oral semaglutide, just saw a forum post about that. Gotta explain those food and water rules!

That pain sounds way beyond the usual nausea stuff. Rapid weight loss plus a dose bump can trigger gallbladder problems. That kind of severe upper belly pain needs follow-up even if labs were normal. I'd push for imaging with your doc, especially if it happens again.
