Ozempic 1-year check-in

It's been a year since I started Ozempic. The last six months have been a bit of a rollercoaster with supply issues, and I had to cut back to 0.5mg and then 0.25mg weekly. I've really ramped up my workouts to help manage stress and keep the weight coming off. I've managed to shed about 30% of my initial weight. Still got a way to go, but it's made a big impact, as you can see. Going to try switching to Saxenda next week since I can't reliably get Ozempic and don't want to stall.

I'm 47F, aiming to lose about half my starting weight overall. I'm insulin resistant. I track my food, and I'd say I'm eating about half as much as I used to. Exercising six days a week now. Hoping to reach my goal by the end of next year and planning to stay on a low dose of some GLP-1 for the long haul.

Wow, you look fantastic! Great job! How are you feeling overall? What's been the biggest surprise or benefit from the weight loss?

You not only look incredible, but I bet you feel so much better and lighter! It must be such a relief not to feel every single step. Kudos to you!

THANK YOU for sharing your photos. You're a real inspiration, and I hope you keep posting updates throughout your journey.

Those are incredible results! I hope you're incredibly proud of everything you've accomplished. You deserve to feel proud, happy, excited and motivated. You've done a fantastic thing! You had a goal, and you worked consistently to achieve it. You even have before and after photos. 😊 I just have lots of 'before' photos!

So happy for you!

Aww, thanks so much! And thank you for posting this, I was struggling with motivation and patience today, and your post really helped.

May I ask what your starting weight and current weight are? We might have similar stats. I'm also trying to lose around half my weight (although I’d consider it a win just to reach an overweight range instead of being obese). I started mid-July around 240 lbs, and I’m now down to 207, and I’m 5'3".

It's great that you're staying on track despite the Ozempic shortage! Best of luck with the switch to Saxenda. You look fantastic!

I've been on Ozempic for 2 months, starting weight 275lbs, current weight 262lbs. I'm really impressed and excited about this journey! My main side effect has been sulfur burps that are almost unbearable. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes, the sulfur burps can be really unpleasant. For me, they lessened after a few weeks as my body adjusted. Try avoiding really fatty foods, that seemed to make them worse for me.

Regarding the ongoing shortages, it's worth remembering that these meds have a long half-life. If you miss a dose or even two, you still have medication in your system. Don't panic, just try to get back on track as soon as you can. Going weeks or months without, though, might require a chat with your doc to adjust dosing when you restart. Just my 2 cents.

That's a really important point, BurnBoss. It's easy to freak out when you can't find your prescription, but knowing that it stays in your system for a while definitely takes some of the pressure off.
