Ozempic: A year out!

Last year, around this time, I was gearing up for a big beach vacation and was dreading it. Seeing the pics afterwards? Ugh. I started Ozempic in March and was lucky enough to see results almost immediately. I stopped in late November, but I've managed to keep the weight off and even dropped another 5lbs! So happy I tried it, even with the cost. I'm down about 45lbs total and actually like how I look for the first time, ever. Still got some work to do on toning and fitness in general, but the weight's in a good place.

Wow, congrats! That's amazing. You must be ecstatic. Please keep us updated on how maintenance is going!

Huge congrats! Looks like you flipped a switch to 'fitness mode'! I'm hoping to wean myself off my meds eventually, with my doctor's oversight of course. Your story is truly inspiring and gives me hope that long-term success is possible!

Incredible! Your transformation is seriously inspiring. I love reading updates like these, thanks for sharing.

I needed this motivation boost *so* badly! I just started last week, and everyone at the office is saying it won't work for me, that I'll feel terrible and look even worse. You look incredible - yay!

I'm starting next week! If you don't mind sharing, how tall are you and what was your initial weight? You and I have a kinda similar build, and I'm so excited to see such amazing outcomes! Congrats!

Wow, you look amazing! I just got a script for Ozempic at .25 because of my PCOS and insulin resistance. My insurance actually covered it, which is wild! I'm around 205 lbs now. I think I look a little like you in your before pic, carrying my weight in my stomach and chest. I'm nervous to start! I've been working out for the last month and I'm always tired, so I'm worried Ozempic will just make it worse. But I won't know unless I give it a try :3 So happy for you!

Thanks for all the kind words, everyone! To answer a few questions:

I'm 5'7" and I started at around 190 lbs. Good luck with your journey!

Where did you get that black sports bra?

It's from a local boutique, nothing fancy. I'm sure you can find something similar online though!

It makes me scared to even start!!

That article makes some good points, but also, everything requires maintenance. If you stop taking meds for diabetes, your blood sugar goes back up. If you stop lifting weights, you lose muscle mass. This stuff is about changing your habits, not just taking a shot and hoping it magically fixes everything.

Totally Tracy_1986. I've seen so many people use these meds as a tool to change their lifestyle. They learn how to eat better, they start exercising, and that's what makes the difference long-term. It's not a magic bullet, it's a kickstart.

It's wild how different everyone's experience is. I saw someone else on Reddit say they stopped Ozempic after losing a LOT and are doing great:

I started at 250 pounds in july 2024 , and now I am at 155 pounds , I stopped gradually by decreasing dosage ! I feel like I loose hunger by decreasing dosage .. it’s weird , but I am really fine and gratefull for everything ozempic taught me in this journey!

Super inspiring!

There's also some interesting research about why people regain weight after stopping these meds. Apparently, it's not just about willpower. Your fat cells have a 'memory' and send signals to your body to try to get you back to your previous weight. It's more complex than just "lifestyle choices."
