Ozempic almost done, what's next?

I found out I had diabetes around my 45th birthday last year. The before pic is from around then. Tried metformin first, but my stomach couldn't handle it, so my insurance approved Ozempic. Last November, I had hip surgery (labrum repair). That's my sixth joint surgery in ten years, all from carrying too much weight. In March, I started lifting weights four times a week, and in May, I started biking about 60km a week. Surprisingly, I could bike every day without my butt getting too sore!

I told my doctor I want to try stopping the Ozempic next year. My insurance deductible will reset, and I can't eat enough protein to make the weightlifting worthwhile. I'm meticulous about tracking calories (I weigh everything), and I'm eating around 1300 calories daily, on a good day. Some days, I struggle to hit 1000 with all the activity, which kinda sucks. I stalled for about three months, then dropped another 20+ pounds this past summer. I'm close to my goal of 160, but I'm hoping to be in the 150s before stopping and focusing on muscle gains. I'm 5'10", so I think it's possible. I went from a size 48 waist to size 30 jeans. Might even squeeze into a 28 before it's all over, haha.

If anyone's unsure about trying this stuff, I'd say go for it. I'm disappointed I let myself get so heavy. I have loose skin everywhere, and I don't think I'll ever build enough muscle to fill it out at my age. Wasted my late 20s and 30s like that. Frustrating, but I feel fantastic now. I can even sleep on my back without snoring. My wife's happy about that, for sure.

This is gonna sound weird, but I love hearing about people who hit plateaus and then start losing again. I've been stuck for 6 weeks and feel like I'm wasting money. Hoping I can post an 'after' pic someday. Good job!

Hey BioLog, that's awesome progress. Congrats on the weight loss and getting your diabetes under control. I started at 5.8 A1C, now its 4.6. So thankful for this medication and my doctor.
