Ozempic and... ahem... *increased* libido?

So, anyone else experiencing a surge in their sex drive since starting on GLP-1s like Ozempic?

For context, I went through surgical menopause at 49 due to endometrial cancer about a year ago. I'm also newly diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

Plus, I've got way more energy than I know what to do with. I've lost about 45 lbs total in the last year and a bit, maybe 30 of that in the 2.5 months I've been taking Ozempic.

This huge spike in both energy and, uh, *desire* came outta nowhere on Tuesday after my shot. But as the week goes on, both seem to be leveling off a bit.

Agreed. Shedding pounds can DEFinitely impact both of those things. Weight loss can give your testosterone a boost.

And considering what you've been through in the past year, Health_WinHub, being a year out from surgery probably helps your body's recovery too.

Yeah, I noticed a similar thing when I first started. That energy surge is legit, but it does diminish over time. Congrats on losing 45 pounds in 14 months, that's awesome! I take compounded sema now since insurance stopped covering Ozempic. Works just as well and is much cheaper.

The body releases extra estrogen from fat stores as they are burned. The effect is temporary. But some energy boost will stay - this is caused by decreased visceral fat.

Thanks everyone for the replies!

I'm also curious... does anyone keep their GLP-1 use a secret? I only told my partner. I feel like it's a private medical choice, and don't need opinions. I dread the 'Oh, youre on that diet injection? so you're cheating? That's why it's been so easy for you!' comments.

I've also been thinking about the drinking alcohol question. I have a cruise coming up, and it has me wondering if I should skip my weekly shot that week or proceed as normal. I plan on drinking!

I'm totally open about it. Why not? It's helping me take control of my health. I get the 'cheating' comments sometimes, but I just explain that it's a tool to help me manage my appetite and make healthier choices. People need to know this stuff works!

I've noticed my tolerance is way lower. I used to be able to put away a few drinks, but now one or two and I'm done. I also get zero enjoyment out of it anymore.

About the alcohol thing... a friend said they had terrible diarrhea when drinking on sema. They thought it was the shot at first, but realized it was the booze!

Wow, thanks everyone. I will be careful with alcohol intake. Maybe I'll skip the shot that week to be safe.

I agree with JuiceSet664, there is no shame in using medication to help the process!

Mine did the opposite at the start — first month was rough on that front. By month 4 it had bounced back and now feels normal. Not sure if it tracks with the dose ramp or just the overall mood-energy improvement settling in.

The compound-specific effects on libido seem to go in both directions - some people report the GLP-1 receptor effect producing increases, others report the opposite especially as you add more receptor mechanisms. The HGH interaction is a whole separate variable. Very individual response on this one.
