Ozempic + bad food = đź’Ą?

Has anyone else had a really hard time after eating certain foods? Last night I had a beer, some cornbread casserole, some pasta salad, fried shrimp, and candied yams...

I had terrible burping and gas and woke up at 4 AM needing to RUN to the bathroom with gas and diarrhea. It was like, way worse than usual, and I'm wondering if it was the beer, the shrimp, or what?

Ozempic will punish you severely if your food choices are poor. You should try to avoid foods high in fat, sugar, or those that cause bloating.

Okay, fair points. Fried foods, alcohol, dairy...you're right. It was definitely what I ate. These foods take longer to digest. These were all triggering foods, and I know better. I was just hoping it wasn't the Ozempic making it worse! Lesson learned. Avoid heavy and fried foods!

I sometimes get those side effects even when I eat healthy, but fried foods, alcohol, and heavy carbs make it so much worse. If you're gonna eat any of those foods, do it the day before your shot. Eating some protein beforehand can help too.

Every item you listed is a notorious trigger.

Even ONE of those could cause issues.

All of them together? OP, with all due respect, that sounds like a recipe for disaster. Sorry you went through that!

I'd recommend doing some more research on optimal eating habits while taking this drug. Fatty foods, fried foods, heavy carbs, alcohol, and carbonated drinks are all potentially painful choices.

If it’s unavoidable (at a dinner party, for example) stick to a tiny portion of one or two (a spoonful of mac and cheese, a small piece of fish without the breading, sweet potato without butter) and drink plenty of water.

Yep. It delays gastric emptying; what you ate the day before, or even two days before, can still be hanging around and cause issues. I had terrible pain and vomiting a few days after increasing my dose because I tried to eat “normally” while traveling. Never again!

So, like, if I have a really bad stomach ache after eating something, is that a side effect or just payback for eating too much?

Probably payback! Unless other people you were with had the same problem, it was probably the food.
