Ozempic changed your taste buds?

For those wondering, the 'basic tastes' they're talking about are sweet, sour, salty, bitter, and umami (that savory taste in stuff like meat, cheese, and soy sauce).

Everything tastes way too salty now. I don't even use a pinch of salt on anything anymore.

I agree and I think it's a positive thing.

Overeating is an addiction. The taste of food is like the drug.

By reducing the taste of food, it lowers the pleasure you get, which helps cut down on overeating.

I've started to really dislike oil. My family uses tons of it in cooking, and I can't eat it or even stand being near it anymore. It's not just because I'm more health-conscious; I'm actually repulsed by it. Has anyone else experienced this?

This is an interesting study. My personal experiences kinda match up and kinda don't. Foods definitely taste different, and mostly in a bad way. I used to love popcorn, but now it has a strange taste to me. Most strong-flavored foods make me feel gross just thinking about them (which doesn't make sense if my taste buds are getting weaker), but I'm really craving certain foods, especially fresh fruit. For a while it was oranges, and now it's frozen grapes.

I wonder if it has something to do with how food tastes less intense when you're full (at least, that's what I think). So, if you're feeling full faster, it would make sense that you don't get that intense 'first bite' taste for as long.

Wow, the taste changes sound intense. I'm on something similar, but I barely notice a difference. Maybe that's why I'm not losing as much weight as others.

My sense of smell is super strong now.
My smell is the same, but I am so looking forward to the price drop next year. I am paying through the nose right now.

I'm curious, what's the max weekly dose folks are taking? I'm at .5 and my blood sugars are still a mess.

anyone on the wegovy pill version? curious how it stacks up against the pen. seeing more people switch to avoid needles. what's the appetite difference for you? side effects any better or worse?

Got really into scent now and spend way too much on fragrances and lotions every week. My coworkers see the pile of stuff at my desk constantly. Seems like the appetite shift moved from food to perfume shopping. Apparently this happens to a lot of people on these meds.
