Ozempic & Constipation Relief?

What are some good remedies for Ozempic side effects, especially constipation? I'm drinking plenty of water and added a fiber supplement but I still have really bad constipation and I get queasy when my blood glucose spikes.

For the queasy-plus-constipation combo, a community guide to managing GLP-1 GI side effects collects what's worked for people beyond just fiber and water.

Miralax saved me! Seriously. I hadn't gone in over a week, ended up hospitalized, and nothing was helping. They tried an enema, mag citrate, docusate, senna... it was awful. Then the GI doc suggested Miralax. I took two doses and things finally started moving. It was such a relief! I'm taking it every couple of days now to stay regular. Mix it with Gatorade for electrolytes and try to stay active - lying down isn't great for bowel movements.

I take about two heaping teaspoons of generic Miralax in a large cup of water each morning. It's not really a laxative, more of a stool bulker and softener. Even if you don't go every single day when you do go it won't be like pebbles. It just helps keep things moving. Remember, you're probably eating less too, right?

As a former nurse, we always suggested mixing prune juice with a couple pats of butter, microwaving it until warm. Works like a charm every time.

I eat chia seeds on chia pudding every single day and if it doesn't help as much as I need I eat two or three dried dates. It helps within hours.

Eat a bunch of sugar-free sweets! Sugar alcohols have a laxative effect. Some other artificial sweeteners like allulose and xylitol can have that effect too.

I have about 3 or 4 prunes every day and it keeps things pretty good. At the beginning of treatment things got very backed up, I felt like my organs were twisted up inside. When it was at its worst I took a stool softener that was also a stimulant, but the prunes feel like a more reasonable, long-term solution.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I'm going to try a few of these. Has anyone had the opposite problem? I've heard some people using similar meds get frequent bowel movements later in their treatment.

I've seen that happen! Could be dumping syndrome if you're eating too much fat. Are you T2D?

Honestly, when my constipation was at its worst, I considered using senna on occasion to get things moving again. It's gentle and works well, plus it's usually pretty inexpensive, and you can find it almost anywhere.
