Ozempic: Dutch relationship changes?

I'm really interested in how Ozempic might affect relationships, not just the usual stuff like weight loss. If someone sheds a lot of weight quickly, does that create shifts with their partner? Like, does confidence change? Attraction? What about sharing meals, going out, or how a partner reacts?

Has it changed anything with your other half, in a good way or a bad way? I'm super curious about long-term experiences, not just the first few weeks.

Are Dutch relationships somehow different? Do you have to like tulips or something? Is there a stroopwafel requirement?

I'm Dutch and use Ozempic. I seriously doubt nationality has anything to do with relationships. It's had zero impact on mine so far.

I'm not Dutch, and I'm not really looking for a relationship, but losing weight has messed with my dating life, honestly. It's a thing for a lot of people. Check out the term 'Ozempic divorce.' I don't think it's just a Dutch thing.

I don't get the negativity. If one or both partners are healthier because of Ozempic, shouldn't that be a good thing? More life, maybe more sex?

Being seriously overweight, having diabetes, or clogged arteries messes with sex for both men and women. Not always, but often enough.

And...dying young really puts a damper on a marriage.

So if these meds can help people live longer, why wouldn't you be happy for the person you love?

I'm Dutch, and yeah, it has changed things in my relationship. Sometimes for the better, sometimes not so much.

Not Dutch, but living in the Netherlands with my Dutch husband. No major effects, but when I was on a higher dose, I just didn't care about cooking. No food interest. He says he's happy I'm eating again now (I'm in maintenance). Going out has always been social for me, so even if I ate very little, we still went out.

I'm so glad I asked because I'm interested in the possible negative consequences, even though it seems counter-intuitive since it generally improves health. Thanks for sharing FiberTracker

It's true, there can be downsides. Sometimes fixing one thing brings up other stuff. Weight loss can change your whole self-image and that can be a shock for your partner, or for you.

Good point. If someone suddenly feels a lot more attractive or confident, it could rock the boat a bit, I guess.

I've seen some people report increased feelings of depression while taking GLP-1 medications, which could certainly impact a relationship. If you experience new or worsening depression, talk to your doctor immediately.

I'm just starting out, but seeing everyone's progress is so encouraging! I'm dealing with some anxiety and this has helped me. I'm starting to feel a little better about myself.

Didn't feel much till I hit the higher doses—varies for everyone though. Mounjaro has that gip piece on top of the glp1 side, so you'd probably need more ozempic to match what you had. But also think about adding other support like your care team suggests.
