It's been almost a year since I started this journey last April. It's had ups and downs. I didn't see much change while taking 1mg for months. Maybe lost 3-4 pounds monthly, and my appetite started coming back. The best part of this med is how it quiets my mind about food! So it was frustrating when I didn't get good results on that dose and felt my old cravings again.
I finally went up to 2mg in December and could feel it working right away. No hunger at all! I went to my doctor a month later, in January, and I had lost 12 pounds! I barely felt hungry, sometimes I wouldn't eat for a couple of days without realizing it. I have a history of disordered eating, so I have to make sure I eat something with protein daily.
Because of my past ED, I don't want to know my exact weight. I just want to be healthier than before. After my January appointment, I returned two months later and I had lost twenty-two pounds! I'm now taking vitamin D supplements because the weight loss has lowered my levels a lot.
I'm sharing this because I see changes in my face shape, which was a big insecurity for me. My clothes fit differently too. I was wearing 4x clothes and now I'm fitting into 3x. I have clothes that I never wore before and kept for *just in case one day* and now those are loose! Still wearing my old clothes, but they're baggier. I'm buying new clothes but what if I gain it all back?
Over the last few weeks, I've been more hungry, which is stressing me out. I'm worried I'll gain weight before my next checkup. I've been walking daily and trying to eat healthy. Ozempic has been great, but I still struggle with body dysmorphia. Sharing these small changes in my face makes me happy and proud.
