Ozempic Journey - Thoughts after 1.5 Years

Hey everyone! So, back in late summer 2023, I started on Ozempic 'cause of my PCOS, elevated BP, and prediabetes, all genetic and made worse by PCOS. I was around 330 lbs then, and now I'm hovering around 260. I'd say it's a win, and so does my doc. I'm off my blood pressure meds now, and my pre-diabetes is gone (been dealing with it since my early 20s, and every doctor just told me to exercise more and diet – which I did for YEARS, even did intense stuff like the Alcatraz swim and a Tough Mudder, but nothing really changed, not even my weight). This stuff really changed my life.

But, I think I'm at a point where it's only maintaining my blood sugar, and not helping me lose weight anymore. My insurance won't cover any of the tirzepatide medications, which I can't afford, but I could just cut my calories a lot more and try to lose more weight that way. It's just been mentally tough after years of restrictive diets. I'm really grateful my insurance approved Ozempic and covered most of it. I'm just looking for some supportive words and maybe some advice. I'm adding some before and after pics. Wish I'd taken more early on, but I was camera-shy, and still kinda am.

Much love to you all!

You've made great progress and you look amazing. When I stopped losing weight for a while, I used reverse dieting. I slowly increased my calories by 100 each week until I found my new maintenance level. I stayed there for about six weeks until I felt comfortable. Then, I went back to a deficit, and the weight started coming off again, and I've lost around 20 pounds since December. Look up reverse dieting; it might be helpful.

You look fantastic, congrats! I started around 290 and got to 220. I've been stuck there (between 220-230 depending on the week) since last fall. To be honest, I'd like to keep going, but I'm pretty happy with where I am. My BP is good, my A1C is normal again (was up around 10), and I can do pretty much anything I want with my body. ❤️

You are a lovely woman, both before and after. Don't be afraid of the camera, and keep up the amazing work. Fantastic results.

just hit 100 pounds down after a little over a year on this. still got a ways to go but man the difference is crazy. biggest nsv today was pulling out a jersey from like 14 years ago that never fit before and it finally works

I went from 290 to 150 in 2 years. I started riding an e-bike every day and stopped drinking at home and reduced my dairy intake. Lifestyle changes were really important when the cravings stopped. You can do it! Also, Zepbound can be more affordable.

You look great! Congrats.

Do what feels right for you. Some weeks, or some days, you might want a bigger calorie cut. Others, not so much. Maybe see if you can find a natural balance that works.

Weight loss can be really hard on your head. We develop negative ways to think about ourselves and our weight. You've got a lot to be proud of. If you try a more restrictive calorie plan, be nice to yourself and let your body, mind, and instincts guide you. See how it goes.

Best of luck to you!

I agree with @Danielle_Path. If you're eating at 2100 calories, you shouldn't be feeling symptoms. There may be something else going on.
