Ozempic made me stop drinking... and eating?

Lost 10 kg, which helped with portion sizes on the main meals. But stress eating? Still my biggest battle. Every work pressure means I'm grabbing a snack.

training on this med feels different. not eating enough to push hard like before - and that's fine. keep lifting light, get protein in, stay consistent. that's really it.

The alcohol craving reduction running alongside the food noise reduction is the same receptor pathway operating across both - GLP-1 receptors in the reward circuitry attenuate seeking behavior broadly, not just for food. Most people who notice it don't connect it to the medication until it's been a few weeks.

born without a thyroid, been on levo since birth, so 48 years. if you're under-dosed you'll gain weight and lose slowly, but this stuff is not a weight loss med and going on it when you don't need it will mess you up. but how does op even get their hands on that dose? I take 200 and it's a nightmare getting it in the us.

Dry January on Ozempic is basically cheating in the best way. The urge just disappears. That SNL sketch was so on point - the appetite suppression does not discriminate between snacks and drinks.

The drinking stopping follows the same reward-circuit as the appetite change - both run through GLP-1 receptor pathways.

The outlier response is real - GLP-1's effect on reward pathways varies significantly across individuals. Food cravings and alcohol cravings run through overlapping circuits, so when one isn't blunted, the other often isn't either.
