Ozempic: My Before & After -80lbs!

Someone asked a good question about feeling tired. I did have some low energy, but it wasn't like I couldn't even get out of bed. I think it was because I was eating a lot less, and my body started to burn fat instead of relying on food for energy.

Knowing I could end up needing dialysis or a kidney transplant kept me going. Plus, my family is amazing and so supportive. They understood if I didn't eat much at Thanksgiving, needed to rest, or felt awful. They've also been great about congratulating me on getting healthier, but never making me feel like I'm BETTER than I was before. I was awesome before, and I'm still awesome now :)

This is a mind thing as much as a body thing. There's so much shame if you're overweight. I don't need to feel bad because I used to be bigger. I know I was heavy, and I know why, but I don't need to dwell on it. I'm focusing on being healthy now and all the good things I'm doing for myself.

I feel like I finally see the light at the end of tunnel, and I'm excited about what's to come.

That's a huge achievement! I'm pretty new here, so I'm hoping you have time to answer a few questions. Did you do anything else, like count calories, exercise regularly, or follow a specific diet, or did you just control portions because the medication suppressed your appetite? What dose are you taking? Do you still have any side effects? Do you still notice a big difference in your appetite? What's your plan to stay at the weight you are now?

Congrats! As someone with ADHD, type 2 diabetes, and kidney problems, I think semaglutide is like a miracle drug!

That's a fantastic change. You should be so proud of yourself. You're really inspiring me. I've been on the medication for about 2 months now and I've dropped about 20 pounds. I'm happy with the results. I still have a long way to go. Did you exercise too? I just got over COVID, so I'm still feeling worn out. I'm looking forward to getting back to the gym. Congrats on your success, you look amazing! ❤️💪🎊

Congratulations on your awesome progress, you look AMAZING! It's so inspiring to see your success! I'm just getting started, but I feel like we have a lot in common. I've also struggled with my weight since I was a kid, need to lose weight to improve my kidney function, and I'm also ADHD, so I've always had trouble with emotional eating. But since starting semaglutide, I'm finally doing better with that. It's amazing how much this stuff helps with feeling full.

Why do you inject in your thigh? I'm wondering if it makes a difference if I switch spots? I'm on week 4 of the lowest dose and I've been injecting in my stomach so far without any problems. I'm moving up to the next dose soon, and I'm both ready for it and a little nervous, lol!

I'm the same age as you and also have ADHD (and have struggled with weight since childhood). I'm almost a month in and seeing progress at the starting dose. I'm taking it slow and my doctor is great, so your post gives me so much hope! Thanks for sharing.

Wow! You look amazing! Do you have a lot of loose skin? I'm 50, 5'9 and used to weigh around 225. I want to lose about 75lbs. I'm worried that I'm going to have a lot of extra skin because of my age.

This is so true! It's a whole journey. I love how you framed it.

That's a valid concern, Ash1988. It really depends on your skin elasticity and how quickly you lose the weight. Some people find that consistent strength training helps, but others consider surgical options if it's a major issue for them.

RunFTW and Maxie_62 - My doc is thinking that I'll go to a lower dose once I hit my goal. I'm not sure what that will be yet. The plan is to watch and see if I maintain or start gaining again then adjust accordingly. I'm hoping to stay on some kind of maintenance dose forever. I feel like this is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

I feel the same way. It's like my brain is finally working the way it should have all along. I can't imagine going back to how things were before.
