Ozempic: One Year Later, Feeling Great!

Hey everyone! It's been nearly a year since I started on Ozempic, and wow, what a difference. I've dropped around 45 pounds, and honestly, my mental health is through the roof. I used to be so down on myself, but losing weight has really helped me become more confident and outgoing. I started with 0.25mg for a month, then 0.5mg for three months, and now I'm on 1mg. I'm at a much healthier weight now, around 128 pounds for my height (5'1), compared to my heaviest at 172 pounds. My joints feel better, I can breathe easier, and my bloodwork is looking great.

I was diagnosed with PCOS and insulin resistance, which is why I started this journey. I'm so grateful for the support I received that allowed me to begin. I actually went shopping the other day and was shocked at the sizes I could fit into! I used to wear a size 10-12, and now I'm in XS and S. It was such a confidence boost.

I'm planning to get some cosmetic surgery in the summer to address some loose skin, and then I'll start weaning off Ozempic, going down to 0.5mg soon. I'm feeling really good about my habits and exercise routine. If you're just starting out, stick with it! It's not magic, but it's a great tool. It's a journey, not a race. Has anyone successfully stopped taking GLP-1 meds? Any advice on maintaining weight loss and staying in control? Any supplements that help?

That is amazing! Huge shoutout to you and your parents for being so supportive! It really makes a difference. 👏🏼

I am beyond thrilled for you! Congratulations! You look absolutely radiant. It's wonderful to see you smiling and thriving. I'm currently on 2mg. My son is getting married in November. I’m trying to get healthier. I have some health issues and the medication I take increases my appetite. I’ve never been more than 150 lbs. this past year has been difficult. I can’t breathe, and I ache all over, just like you described. I'm trying to exercise more. I've managed to lose about 75 lbs in the last six months. Please keep updating us on your progress. You are an inspiration, Dixie!

I haven't personally stopped, but I've read that focusing on strength training can really help maintain muscle mass as you reduce the medication. Also, working with a therapist might be beneficial to address any body image issues that might arise.
