Ozempic pen carrier - cool or overkill?

Hey everyone,

Since starting on Ozempic, I really felt like I needed a good travel case. None of what was for sale, or the free 3D models I found, quite did what I needed. So, I ended up designing my own.

It holds the pen itself, four needles (it even works with longer aftermarket needles), and maybe half a dozen alcohol wipes. The pictures will probably explain it better. It's a totally free download, takes about 2.5 hours to print, and only needs about 70g of filament. If you print one out, please boost it and maybe drop a buck or two in my tip jar. Thanks!

I think the idea is pretty ingenious, but what's wrong with just using the original packaging?

Just a heads up that if you're traveling by air, many airlines require medications to be in their original packaging. So, keep that in mind.

Doesn't Ozempic need to be refrigerated? Unused pens should be refrigerated between 36 and 46°F. You'd probably also want a cooler like the 4AllFamily for travel.

Yeah, my big worry with traveling is the temperature. Does Ozempic absolutely have to be kept cold?

I'm kinda confused why you'd need a whole case...seems like it would take up space. I think the main challenge is just figuring out how to handle the used needles.

That's a really good point. I'm planning a trip to Asia soon, and I'm already stressed about what to do with the used needles. I saw a reddit thread about this... I think I might just collect them in a small, sturdy container and bring them back home. Seems like the easiest option.

I just ordered a mini sharps container from a medical supply place. It’s small enough to fit in my travel bag, and I can just toss the used needles in there. Then I empty it into my regular sharps container when I get home. I've seen people reccommend using an old prescription bottle with a childproof cap too.

It's best to keep it refrigerated, but my doctor said it's okay to keep it at room temperature for a few days if you're traveling. Just try to keep it out of direct sunlight and extreme heat.

Yeah, that's a big thing. If you are just using it, it's ok to be at room temperature for a few weeks. But if the power goes out for a long time you'd want to store it in a cooler with ice packs. I saw someone talking about this on the other forum when Florida had those storms a while back.

Just be mindful when going through TSA. Make sure all your meds are clearly labeled. It may also save you some trouble to have a note from your doctor explaining why you need the medication and needles.
