Ozempic prices too damn high!

It's not just Ozempic. Other meds are expensive too. Jardiance is crazy pricey, and lots of Medicare patients can't afford it. Keeping medication prices this high is criminal.

I hope so. I have insulin-resistant PCOS, and a tiny dose has helped me more than anything else in almost two decades of trying. Paying almost a grand every couple months sucks, but it works when nothing else did. My doc threw everything at me. All the diets and trainers. Nothing worked until this med.

Ozempic didn't work for me. My diabetes was out of control. I switched to Rybelsus (the pill version) and it's been fantastic. I'm not losing much weight, but my blood sugar is finally normal. My A1C was super high when I was diagnosed and I couldn't get it below 7 until Rybelsus. Now it's great. But the price... wow! I couldn't pay without good insurance. Farxiga and Xarelto are also crazy expensive.

I can't get any help to lower the cost other than a discount card, which gets it to around $830 a month. I really hope something happens to make it more affordable. I can't keep paying this much, and I'm scared of how things will be without it.

Back in 1923, the team who discovered insulin actually sold the patents to a university for practically nothing, with the inventor famously saying “Insulin does not belong to me, it belongs to the world.” He wanted everyone who needed it to have access.

...Now, a century later, people are practically taking out second mortgages just to get a monthly supply.

It's weird that sky-high medicine costs aren't a huge talking point in the elections. All the focus is on the border and inflation. Crazy drug prices have been a US problem for a long time. It makes you wonder if we really are the 'greatest country' anymore. As a dad, it's upsetting. My kids are growing up in a world that feels way different than my easy childhood in the early 90s.

This is nuts... I just read that Eli Lilly is suing a bunch of telehealth startups that are selling cheaper versions of Mounjaro. They claim these companies are pushing dangerous stuff, but aren't they really just mad that someone's selling the same thing for way less?

I saw some articles about new proposed laws that could affect compounding pharmacies, giving the FDA more control. It could impact prices, so keeping an eye on it is crucial.

Hashimoto's here. My levo got too high from weight loss. TSH hit 0.03-messed periods, migraines, crazy BP, heart racing, insomnia, constant panic. Dropped from 150 to 100 mcg. Thyroid changes are risky to ignore.
