I eat normally just less. my diet was decent already from dealing with diabetes years. overhauling everything only works if you stick to it. small swaps you can live with beat total cutouts, especially if your family eats different.

The OR conversation situation is its own kind of medical ethics issue beyond the medication judgment. The hypocrisy of finding out someone who was vocal about it was also on the medication is almost too on-the-nose. The stigma is real but clearly not universally held even in the circles of people expressing it loudest.

Had a procedure coming up requiring general anesthesia, and I was told to simply skip my injection the day before. My doctor mentioned the guidance has shifted and no longer requires holding off for weeks beforehand. That was specific to my situation and doctor, so definitely check with yours, but I was relieved to hear I didn't need to pause for that long.

Honestly, it's nobody's business but yours. You wouldn't tolerate someone shaming you for taking cholesterol medication or antibiotics, that conversation just wouldn't happen. So why should this be treated differently? Your doctor prescribed it because you needed it, whatever a neighbor thinks is irrelevant.

I relate to what you're describing, I'm on that same medication class myself, primarily to manage diabetes, though shedding some weight would be a welcome bonus.

Take care of yourself and tune out the sideline commentary.

I stopped ozempic around 10 days earlier. Not sure the med was the cause, yet I got a vasovagal reaction when the IV went in. Tell the nurse about any concerns you have.

Lmao the day my prescription came through I was thrilled and messaged friends and family straight away, "I'm an Ozempic girl!" Nobody else should get a say in what medication you take, but im not embarrassed in the slightest by a "shortcut" that helps my body and my head. Im happy to talk through the downsides and risks with anyone too.

Ozempic is diabetic medicine. Ask her if she'd rather your condition got worse. Or tell her flat out that your health is private and remarks about it aren't welcome.

Nobody but me has any business with my medical details. Ozempic is strange because people feel even more entitled to share 'expert' knowledge. Then again people do it about statins, even chemotherapy, so I shouldn't be surprised.
