Ozempic stopped working?

I've been on Ozempic for type 2 diabetes for almost half a decade now. At first, I shed around 15 pounds, but I've gained back all of that and then some. The only side effect I'm still experiencing is some indigestion if I eat anything after dinner. I don't notice any of the benefits anymore. I don't feel full any faster, and my hunger is still very present.

Yup! I dropped about 20 pounds. I've been taking it for 11 months. I stopped losing weight after the first three. My doctor is switching me over to Mounjaro. I start tomorrow. Wish me luck!

It isn't necessarily that it quits working. It's more that your body adapts to it over time. Ozempic wasn't ever hugely effective for weight loss for me, but it definitely lowered my A1C, and my other labs are really optimal.

Yeah, after about a year and a half, I noticed appetite suppression wasn't as strong. I slowly gained back about 20 pounds but nipped in the bud. Lost half of it in about a month and a half.

I started Ozempic almost a year ago and have had great results, with controlling my blood sugar, quieting the food noise and weight loss. I took .25 for 4 weeks and have been on .5 ever since. I've lost almost 73 pounds!

However, in the past month or so, I've noticed the food noise is creeping back in. I'm still losing weight, but at a slower pace (which is fine), but I'm also way more active now, walking and doing cardio/strength training classes.

I see my doctor every 3 months. Next check-up is in July, so I'll ask her if she thinks I need to up my dose. She probably won't unless my A1C is up, but it was in the normal range the last 2 times.

Yes, @CarbDone, I'm going through that currently. I was on it for about a year, and it stopped working, so I stopped it on March 20th. Today, I'm restarting it. However, they're putting me at the highest dose to begin with, so I don't know if it'll even work. It's the only one my insurance covers...

Not everyone responds equally to GLP-1s for weight loss. It might curb appetite somewhat, but its not the same for everyone. I feel like the effects can be really variable.

Yes, it definitely has less of an impact. If you can stop it for a couple of months, some people feel it works better after a break from it.

For those of you who have lost weight, did you notice people treating you differently? I've found that strangers are much nicer now!

I feel that! Since losing weight, I get more smiles and hellos in public. It's sad, but true. I try to be extra kind to everyone now, regardless of size.

I've been on a low maintenance dose of semaglutide every few weeks. I'm mostly doing it because I'm not supposed to stop abruptly. I appreciate the anti-inflammatory benefits, too. I can maintain now with just daily walks and light weightlifting.

Would never want that headache. But I've read loads saying tirzepatide eventually stopped working or worked worse. Never know how hard some stuff gets to get later.
