Ozempic: Unexpected Perks?

I've been using Ozempic for about 8 months now. Weight loss is great, but I've noticed other cool stuff. My cravings are way down, and I just naturally pick healthier stuff. Plus, my mood's better, and I'm more motivated. Anyone else have similar side benefits? Maybe changes in your food habits, how motivated you feel, or even your mental health improving?

Super strange, but I've stopped impulse buying stuff online now that I'm on this. Like that urge just vanished.

I don't even want alcohol anymore. I don't even consider having a glass of wine with dinner, and I certainly don't want to drink a lot.

Weight loss has been slow going, but as a woman with PCOS who is now 40... and used to get a period like 3 times a year *tops*... I've now had 7 regular, monthly periods. That's gotta mean something hormonally. Also, I had plantar fasciitis for two years. Tried everything. Gone within 3 months of starting Ozempic. So, yeah, only down 20lbs in 9 months, which is disappointing, but there have been improvements in other areas.

I've been using a GLP-1 for 2+ years and it cleared up my rosacea. My skin has never been this good! I think it's from the anti-inflammatory effects.

My doctor thinks the decrease in inflammation is key – and some researchers are also studying the heart health benefits, which seem to be more than just about weight. I was on Ozempic for 1.5 years, lost about 60 lbs, then plateaued, but more importantly, I cut my blood pressure meds in half, my breathing improved (it had been bad since a heart attack 14 years ago), my chronic pain vanished, and my mood evened out. I switched to Zepbound to try to lose more weight, but it wasn't for me… no weight loss and my appetite vanished. I'm starting Rybelsuss now – cheaper and can go to a higher dose than Ozempic. Fingers crossed I get the same benefits I had before… any more weight loss would just be extra.

Inflammation has been reduced a LOT. I'm clumsy and have had various sports injuries over the years. My ankle, which I've sprained badly twice, no longer swells after being on my feet all day. My knee, which has a partial ACL tear, doesn't hurt after long days. Both are huge wins for me and let me move again. The swelling went down almost immediately. I noticed it in the first couple weeks of taking Ozempic.

I’m only on the lowest dose but the perks have been amazing: immediate improvement in joint pain, no more hypoglycaemic episodes, better stomach issues, better sleep (but weirder dreams). I’ve actually stopped taking two other meds and am thinking about stopping a third.

This is TMI, but ever since my gallbladder was removed, I've had bad GI problems. Since I started Ozempic, I'm regular for the first time in years. I can eat and not have to worry about where the closest bathroom is at all times. It's pretty amazing.

I've noticed that even though I'm eating less, I'm wasting tons of food now! Like, I'll get takeout and only eat half. Anyone else have that issue?

Yeah, I get the kids' meal now for pretty much that reason!

Stress is KILLING my appetite control. I'm dealing with big work problems and feel the urge to emotional eat everything! Is this normal?
