Ozempic, weight loss, and feeling off?

Hey everyone,

I've gone from 238lbs to 152lbs using Ozempic. It's been amazing, but I'm struggling a bit now. I've got some loose skin and stretch marks that seem more obvious. I used to weigh around 120-130lbs, and I just want to feel good in my body again. I also feel like my energy has just gone away along with the weight. Does anyone else feel this way? Or do I need to keep losing?

Thanks for any input!

Something not talked about often is the mood stuff that happens with Ozempic. It can cause low mood, almost like depression, or even thoughts of suicide. Your mood drop might be from the meds themselves - chemically induced. Maybe ask your doc about an SSRI if it keeps up while you're on Ozempic. I take 10mg of something similar and while my weight loss is a *tiny* bit slower, it's helped me feel way more stable.

No way! You look incredible and you're worried about loose skin? You look young and like your weight wasn't super high to begin with. If you work out regularly, your skin will tighten up. It probably isn't even loose skin yet, maybe just a little flabby. Keep it up, or don't, either way you look great! Check out some images of extreme loose skin online to see the difference.

You're doing awesome! Embrace the change -- you wanted this new body when you were 240lbs, right? It might not be exactly like when you were 120lbs, but it's still positive. Try some resistance training to get stronger. Simple mat Pilates videos on YouTube can help strengthen your core. Good luck!

When I got close to my target weight, I felt super down about my loose skin (especially on my chest). It was frustrating because I worked so hard to change my body, but this... there wasn't much I could do. It was really demoralizing. Therapy helped a lot, and so did building muscle at the gym. Now, I try to appreciate my body for what it can *do* instead of what it *looks* like. ❤️❤️

Great advice here! I'd only add that we women are way tougher on ourselves than men are. Most guys really love all sorts of feminine features and don't notice the 'flaws' we obsess over. Relax and enjoy your body! You look great and you'll feel great in the arms of your partner! 😊

Having struggled with this after losing over 100lbs before, I'd say be patient. I learned the hard way that weight loss won't automatically make you happy. It takes time, patience, and some self-reflection. You've already succeeded on the outside. Not many people can claim that. Be kind to yourself; you look amazing! Sending you big hugs. 🫂

I'm kinda having similar thoughts now too. I've lost maybe 60-ish lbs, and I'm noticing more loose skin now. It's been on my mind a lot and kind of ruining the fun a bit.

I'm in week 5 of a new workout thing. I made a simple strength routine, doing full-body stuff maybe 2-3 times a week, and I walk/jog also 2-3 times a week, plus more walks when I feel like it. I'm trying to just focus on feeling stronger, without any other goal for now.

I'm sure I'll still feel negative about my skin, but this has been helping me mentally. The mental stuff of losing weight isn't talked about enough, but it's a huge part.

Amazing work, by the way, @Lil_Great. You should be super proud of yourself, even with the complicated feelings now.

I was also pretty thin before I gained the weight that led me to Ozempic, so I get how you feel about not looking like you used to, @Lil_Great. Please be nice to yourself. Our bodies go through so much, and they're always ready for whatever's coming. Sometimes, what we face leaves us changed, but what matters is that you're still here. I really hope you can look at yourself and these pictures and feel proud, because this is a huge thing, and you look so much healthier! It's only gonna get better from here, and you're killing it. :)

I've heard adding collagen to your diet can help your skin elasticity a bit. It takes a few weeks, but supposedly improves the crepey texture. Just something to consider!

That's totally understandable. It's a reminder of the weight we carried, but also a sign of progress. Try focusing on how much stronger you're getting! It's a great way to shift your mindset.

I'm finding it harder to inject in my stomach now with the loose skin. Anyone else have this?

Yeah, I've heard that's a thing. Some people switch to injecting in their leg, although it can be a bit more painful there. But hey, it's a small price to pay for all the benefits!

Fluid retention is common and goes away when you stop. Your body composition will still look great. If you're feeling depleted in something specific, especially carbs if you're active, your system will tell you. Listen to that instead of just the scale.
