Ozempic Win! My Story

I'm coming up on my first year using Ozempic, and it's been a real game changer, for the better. A few things to keep in mind about my sitch:

* Main (only) side effect is constipation
* Good insurance through work covers nearly all costs
* Using it for weight loss, plain and simple
* No other health probs as of now
* Developed a full-blown binge eating problem during the lockdowns

I didn't realize how much I gained but it was alot. Before, I wore XL clothes, but now XXL or even XXXL was necessary. I was eating constantly, even when not hungry. If it tasted good, I wanted more, more, more. My mind was always on food. What to eat next, when to eat it.

My meals weren't unhealthy per se, just wayyyy too much food and too many snacks. I was also more of a couch potato since I worked from home. The only time I left the house was for groceries or to walk the dog.

Once I started the medication, the constant cravings just stopped. And I felt full much faster, so I drastically cut back on portions and the amount of times I ate. I lost a bunch of weight fast in the first month. Now aiming for a more sustainable 1-2 lbs a week.

I still have my usual 2 cups of coffee, but now I just eat lunch and dinner (maybe some toast or a shake for breakfast). I drink plenty of water, and I've been working out regularly 3 times a week since the fall.

I'm only about 10 pounds from my initial goal, but I want to lose another 30 or so before the end of the year. This whole thing gave me the motivation to start Invisalign too. I had some dental work done a couple years ago, but now I feel like if I can tackle weight loss, I can fix my teeth too.

I've been on Ozempic for two full years now and I've only managed to lose around 30 pounds. It seems like it's not as effective for weight loss in men with type 2 diabetes, like myself.

I have a small granola bar for breakfast and a protein shake at lunch every day. Then I have a normal dinner and a small snack later. I'm consuming way fewer calories than before, but the weight loss has stopped. I've been stuck at 240 for about a year, and it took the first year to even lose the 30. And yes, I'm on the highest dose, 2 mg weekly, for months.

I've always been a water drinker. I've also almost completely stopped drinking alcohol, which I used to enjoy. Now I might have a couple glasses of wine twice a month.

When I read about these amazing weight loss successes, I just feel bummed out.

Two years with nothing but constipation to manage is one of the best side effect profiles you can get - Miralax as the ongoing fix is the standard approach and it's effective. The 'why shouldn't you benefit too' framing is the right one.
