Pen Needles: Any brands better?

I'm about to order new pen needles. Are there any brands to avoid, or any that are particularly good?

I'd recommend sticking with a reputable brand like BD. They're not the cheapest, but they're reliable and worth the extra cost.

I'm not seeing the appeal of BD. Are they really worth 30 bucks a box, when other brands are like, half the price?

I use TRUEplus® Sterile, 31 gauge, 5/16 inch. I barely feel them at all.

First of all, it's usually a box of 90. Second, some suppliers won't ship to certain states. So the appeal is getting a quality needle at a reasonable price that can actually be delivered to you. I had a bad experience with some generic brands from that online mega-store. They were awful and went straight into the sharps container. The BDs are worth it.

I haven't heard of those generic brands. I usually buy Easy Touch, a box of 100, in 8mm, 6mm, or 12.7mm for around $16. Care Touch is even cheaper, around $10 for a box of 100. I prefer Easy Touch, but Care Touch works in a pinch. I've also used Easy Touch syringes for my cat because they had half-unit markings for better accuracy.

Easy Touch is readily available on that big online retailer with next-day shipping (shipped directly from the manufacturer). I just purchased them because my pen from overseas didn't include needles.

Related to injections -- do you guys refrigerate your pens after the first use? I've seen conflicting info about it. Some say to keep it in the fridge, others say it's okay to leave them out at room temp.

I always keep mine in the fridge. Easier to store and remember where it is Plus it might help with stability.

I keep mine refrigerated but take it out maybe an hour before injecting. I don’t like injecting cold liquid, plus it dispenses better when it’s warmer.

I've noticed a red spot and some tenderness at my injection site lately. I've been using the same needles and product for ages, always sterilizing. Anyone else experience this?
