Prescribed for alcohol cravings, not sure I'm ready to start

My doctor, who I'm honestly not a fan of, suggested one of these meds to help with my drinking. I'm an alcoholic, and I'm also a bit overweight, so in theory it would help on both fronts. I'm nervous though. I haven't found much to go on and only know a couple of people who take it. They told me it can make you feel very sick to your stomach and that hair can fall out. Is that what you see too? Could someone who uses it, especially for cravings, walk me through what the start looks like? Did the cravings actually ease, how bad was the nausea, and did it settle? I would rather hear what it's really like before I take the first shot. I'd hate to start and quit after a week because of surprises nobody warned me about. Thanks a lot.

As a recovering alcoholic sober for four years, take it. I'd have loved to have something like this when I got sober. Drinking is far riskier than anything semaglutide does to you. You may get some nausea & stomach upset that fades, or nothing at all. What you get is quiet where your brain used to scream for alcohol.

Thats amazing. This medicine is going to save so many people from addiction. I'm an alcoholic, 18 months sober now, and it basically started the day after my first Sema dose. It wiped out my alcohol cravings right away. Side effects were mild, a little nausea, some tiredness, some hair loss, and it has been so so so worth it. Good luck!
