Shakes work great when appetite's low, but they move through your system faster than solid food does. Give that a shot for a couple weeks, aim for at least 100 grams daily, and see whether it makes a difference. I always keep a rotation of easy protein staples on hand, canned fish, a lighter cheese spread, eggs, legumes, that kind of thing, just for variety.
Agreed that tracking calories gets exhausting fast, but it's more manageable if you only do it during specific stretches, like after a stall or a small regain. Track just long enough to get moving again, then repeat whenever needed.
