Protein shakes while on GLP's?

Hong Kong Yanpep International
Star Nutrition's raspberry flavor has become my regular pick for protein powder. Blends smoothly and tastes solid mixed into water, tastes even better mixed with milk instead.

Agreed! A couple different brands make solid tasting clear whey options worth trying. Keep an eye out for a summer holiday promotion soon from one of them, regular pricing runs pretty high but deals pop up fairly often.

Completely agree. Some people take the protein obsession way too far. Yes, needs go up somewhat on this medication class, but be realistic about it. Carbs and fiber matter too, for energy and keeping digestion moving!

Shakes work fine as a meal substitute, but I'd cap it at one or two daily and lean toward whole foods otherwise. Chances are appetite suppression won't really kick in until you're two or three months into this drug class. In the meantime, focus on building healthy eating patterns, since that's what actually keeps the weight off once the medication's done its part.

Protein smoothies have been my thing lately. Recent favorite: one scoop of whey, a big spoonful of almond butter, a banana, a squeeze of honey, a few ice cubes and some greek yogurt. So good. They kick-start my protein early in the morning and help my digestion.

There are a few new flavoured high protein yogurts out now that taste pretty good, each with about 15-20 g protein. There's also a high protein cheese, provided you find a tasty one, and lean meat beats everything. Make the protein foods your first priority, and if you then can't eat more or struggle with total calories, perhaps the GLP dose should come down? What intake are you aiming for? From what I know, the usual guideline is 1.5 times your target weight in kg, as grams per day. I always went well past that to keep hunger in check.

A few threads on protein might help. What's your method for reaching your protein targets? Shakes? Smaller meals? A different eating window? Any difference in your strength or recovery? Training 5+ times a week has always meant high protein for me. Not up for debate when strength and recovery are on the line.

the shakes i grab come in under 150 calories for somewhere between 16 and 25 grams of protein. there's probably lower cal options with more protein out there, but these have decent vitamins and minerals too. dinner's usually a solid piece of meat with vegetables, basically what i ate before starting the glp, except back then i was still hungry after. now i'm satisfied. and unlike before, i can have pasta or pizza sometimes without that urge to keep going back for more. shakes work great for my schedule and nutrition needs, but honestly whatever fits your life is the right call for you.
