Hello everyone! I'm a Registered Dietitian specializing in GLP-1 therapies. I've noticed a lot of uncertainty on the best nutritional approaches while on these medications, and I want to help clear some things up. I truly think dietary adjustments won't solve every single digestive issue, but they can play a huge role in lowering the intensity of symptoms. I'll be here officially starting at 7:00PM CST tonight March 1st, 2026, but feel free to drop your questions now and I'll start answering then. This AMA will run for 24 hours! Ask Me Anything!

Disclaimer: While I am a dietitian, I'm not *your* dietitian. This AMA is only for informational purposes, not medical advice. I can't and won't make individual clinical recommendations, or comment on dosages. Contact your doctor for medical advice.

Hello everyone! I'm a Registered Dietitian specializing in GLP-1 therapies.

I've been on Mounjaro for a year and a couple months and still have pretty bad food aversions on most days. I'm aiming for 100g of protein but it's hard because eating feels like work. Any advice for getting enough protein when foods just seem gross? Protein drinks help, but sometimes they're just as bad.

Also, does this aversion ever go away, or am I stuck with this forever?

Do you have any insight on how to help those who don't respond well? I've lost about 10 lbs in half a year, but only because I'm carefully tracking calories. I'm on 1.7mg Wegovy. I don't have any side effects except less hunger, and I can still easily overeat. I probably have a low resting metabolic rate because I'm short with a desk job.

Is it normal to have a bigger appetite right before the next injection? Sunday night is injection night and by Saturday I can eat normally. I'm going up to 1 mg in a few days and I'm considering splitting the dose. Thoughts?

Hey, what are your thoughts on combining fasting and GLP-1s for weight loss? I'm thinking specifically of a 36-hour fast followed by a 12-hour eating window?

What are your best tips for dealing with sulfur burps?

I'm already avoiding foods high in sulfur, eating small portions often, using probiotics, and splitting the dose... but I still have days with awful sulfur burps and GI distress.

I've been losing weight but it's hard to stick with it. I'm on 1mg, 5 months in.

It seems like sudden hair loss is a common side effect that people don't talk about enough. Any suggestions for how to prevent it?

Could you share what a typical meal might look like for a type 2 diabetic like me who has been on the highest dose for 3 months without losing any weight? I exercise every other day and try to eat a high-protein, low-carb diet.

Hey Bee_Set, in terms of food aversions, many find that focusing on easily digestible protein sources, like lean meats, fish, and plant-based protein powders, can help overcome the 'ick' factor. Small, frequent meals can also be more manageable. Unfortunately, it really varies from person to person if the aversion will ease up. Hang in there!

For Shannon95 and non-responders, it's important to rule out any underlying medical conditions. Also, ensure you're accurately tracking your intake and activity levels. Sometimes, even small discrepancies can stall progress. Discuss other options with your doctor if Wegovy isn't working for you.
