Some doctors know the clinical data on GLP-1s and some really don't. A lot of them still lean on older weight loss thinking that doesn't hold for these meds. The research now says people who lose faster on a GLP-1 regain less often, and they don't have notably more medical problems than slow losers. Healthy loss is still generally seen as about a percent of bodyweight a week at the outside. The old advice assumed you needed a crash diet of extreme restriction, that plain CICO works for everybody and it's all willpower, that fast loss can't be kept off, that nobody sticks to a diet long term, and that loss keeps going until you hit a healthy weight. None of that is accurate for people on GLP-1s.
