Reconstituting with my insulin syringes - okay?

Hey everyone, quick question! I just got everything to try tirzepatide but totally spaced on getting needles for mixing. Can I use my insulin needles to reconstitute it? Or is there a reason why I shouldn't?
 
I actually think it's even better! The smaller needle means more accuracy and less damage to the vial stopper. Even if we don't know exactly how much is in the vial anyway!
 
That's smart, @Gym_Taco! Maybe you could leave the plunger in the second one, it'd push itself out from the pressure and nothing could fall in.
 
I've been using bac water, but I'm wondering if an acetic acid solution would make my peptides last longer? Anyone have experience with that?
 
I was just reading about how much bacteriostatic water to add to a vial. Is there a general rule? Like, if I have a 5mg vial, how much water do I add if I want to take, say, 1mg a day? It sounds like you want to take about 5 shots, so how precise do you need to be?

For every 2 mg of peptide, use 1 ml of bac water. So, for 5mg, add 2.5 ml. Then, every 5 units on your insulin syringe will equal 100 mcg.
 
I'm supposed to add 0.75ml of bac water and inject to the 25 line on the syringe. I've been doing it for a while now, but it's not working as fast as I want it to. I wonder if I should be using more?

Wondering which eli lilly product comes in pre-filled insulin syringes. Zepbound pens aren't pre-filled syringes and work totally different.
 
You're talking about the ones with markings for insulin units. Yep. The point you mentioned makes sense but those line marks are designed specifically to show insulin units at standard concentration.
 
Insulin syringes work fine for reconstitution. Cheap, precise, easy to find. Most people here use them.
 
Needle phobia here - didn't pay attention when ordering the first 100 insulin syringes and grabbed 27g by accident. Went ahead with them anyway and been fine. Just needed a solid week of mental prep before that first injection. Should make IM less scary.
 
Insulin syringes work fine for reconstitution - the restriction caveat applies to importing prefilled pens, not drawing from a vial you mixed yourself. If you have them already, use them.
