Reta and Heart Rate: What's your experience?

Hi everyone,

Here's my deal: I've been on low doses of either semaglutide or tirzepatide (.3mg and 1.5mg, respectively) for about a year to tweak my body composition and get my A1C down a bit. I managed to lose around 8lbs of fat (sitting at roughly 19% BF now) and my A1C went from 5.6 to 5.1. I didn't want to crank up the dose higher because I was concerned about losing muscle and other potential bad effects.

So, I heard about Retatrutide and decided to dive right in. I grabbed one vial from a well-known USA source with good COAs. My goal is to hit and stick to low teens BF%.

I'm only in week two. I did .6mg MWF the first week, and then switched to a once-weekly dose of 2.5mg. I plan to stay there until week five. I know it can take a bit for Reta to kick in, but I've seen absolutely ZERO change in my heart rate. I track with an Oura ring. I saw an immediate jump of 11-12 points with both Sema and Tirz.

I know I need to be patient with Reta, but does this mean I bought garbage? Should I get another vial and try that for my third dose, or just wait it out?

Thanks!

2.5mg is a super low starting point to get your system used to the stuff. You probably won't feel anything at that dose. Just stick to the plan and see where you end up. A lot of ppl don't get raise in resting HR, so don't sweat it too much. This is a long game, not a quick fix.

I switched to Reta (starter dose) after using 16mg Tirz for 4 months. My RHR on Reta the first week was around 98, which freaked me out. But, my RHR on Tirz was consistently high 80s to mid 90s.

Now, I'm on Reta for maintenance, and my RHR is stable in the mid 70s most days, which is even lower than it was on Tirz for a whole year. It varies from person to person.

Here's some data on my RHR from the last 6 months. I started tirz the 4th week of April and switched to reta the 3rd week of June. I'm currently on 7mg weekly. I haven't felt a significant difference, but my RHR has been consistently <50 for the past two years.

Tirz bumped up my heart rate a little, but reta really cranked it up.

I'd be surprised if tirz made your RHR go up, but reta didn't at therapeutic doses. It messes with the sympathetic nervous system the same way tirz does, and the glucagon receptor activation is another reason for increased RHR.

But yeah, 2.5mg is a low dose.

My RHR on Sema jumped to 73 from mid 50's! On Reta, it went up to 66 when I first started at 9 mgs, but since then, it's dropped back down - 62 on the first and second day after the shot, then back to the 50's as the week goes on. No change in RHR until I upped it to 9 mgs.

I was super nervous about Reta because of my heart rate on Sema. It took me months to even think about trying it! The Reta I have is definitely real since I've dropped 22 lbs now. It's a good surprise!

For any ladies or gents following this thread: my buddy uses this and said it's the best weight loss peptide to date. He couldn't handle even 0.1mg of semaglutide in the past because of the awful nausea and fatigue, but Reta is different for him. Zero nausea or fatigue, and he's getting a nice boost of energy.

Has anyone noticed any changes to their libido on Reta?

I've heard similar stories, which is why I'm giving it a shot. Sema made me feel like garbage.

I use 3mg of Reta a week with my partner, even though we don't need to lose much weight. We like how it helps keep cravings in check and gives us a small metabolic edge, so it keeps our fat levels where we want them. I still have more belly fat than I'd like, though.

[@Vegas_Slim] I have noticed a slight drop in libido, tbh. But it's likely because of lower dopamine in the gut.

For those considering it for weight loss, Retatrutide is supposed to be a game changer, especially for guys on TRT who can't seem to get rid of stubborn fat. It's supposed to help preserve muscle while you drop weight and even improve your heart health. Fingers crossed that's the case!
