Reta not working?! Help!

Hi everyone. I'm kinda new, but not new to retatrutide. Last summer I bought a 40mg pen, spent maybe £250 from a source I trusted, and it worked wonders. I know pens aren't the cheapest option, but honestly, if it worked like that again I'd gladly pay a similar price several times per year. But that's the problem. The first time, the pounds melted away, I felt great, and my cravings vanished. It was incredible. So I got another pen from a diff vendor, supposedly the same manufacturer. This time? Nothing. No weight loss, no appetite change. I even upped the dose to 12mg. Still nothing. Clearly, not the same. So, I moved on and got some powder from a source in the UK to mix myself. I figured doing my own reconstituting might be better after seeing others say that. I did some research on a trustworthy source, even though I know the source probably gets it from overseas. Now, a couple weeks in at 2.5mg, and again, I feel nothing. I'm starting to doubt if I'm doing anything wrong. It feels like one of these is true:
a) Recent products are fake.
b) My body is taking longer to respond this time.
c) I need a crazy-high dose.
d) I'm storing or injecting incorrectly.
How do I figure out what's going on? I think a) is most likely. Maybe I just got lucky the first time. I'm not sure where to go next, as I tried to be careful with sourcing each time. Any thoughts or experiences would be great. Thanks!

You should buy from a vendor that provides verifiable Janoshik tests, or buy a batch of vials and send one in for testing yourself. That's the only way to know for sure that you're getting what you think you're getting.

It's tough to pinpoint the exact issue with the limited info. Maybe you've built up some kind of "resistance" from starting and stopping, or maybe the vials were not legit reta, or something else entirely? I'm confident that others here will chime in with more helpful advice. I'm just here to support you in your efforts to improve your health! 🙂

So, you went from a high dose straight down to a super-low dose and are wondering why you aren't feeling anything?

Honestly, all the products might be fake, its a possibility. Testing is the only way. It would also help to know how you calculated the reconstitution, as I see people messing up their injection calculations pretty often.

I did check for a recent, batch-specific Janoshik test result that I verified, and my vial matched that batch number. The 10-batch testing idea is something I'm considering as a next step, if things don't improve. I just need to learn how to do it properly. That's partly why I'm here!

Is developing resistance something that can really happen? I've done some searching online but didn't find anything solid, but I'd love to hear if others have experienced that.

Sorry for the confusion. When Reta worked for me, I never went above 5mg weekly -- I didn't need to. I upped the second pen to 12mg just to see if it was a dosage issue or a product issue. Since I felt nothing, I suspect the product was bunk. Now, I've tried a new supplier with a good reputation and verifiable Janoshik certification, and I'm wondering if something else is going on. For reconstitution, I added 1ml of BAC water to a 10mg vial. Then, I injected 0.25ml, which should be 2.5mg of Reta if I did the math right. Let me know if I messed up!

First, real vendors don't usually sell pens directly. Now, for the main problem:

When using that pen, what was the MG and how much were you actually taking?

Next: Did the other 2 purchases include COAs? Verification can be done. Going forward:

Find a good, vetted supplier with a US warehouse if you're in the USA or EU. Otherwise, there are other vendors. Buy Reta as 10 mg vials, maybe 3 to 4 kits, since you're willing to spend. Make sure the Reta has a recent COA (less than 3 months old). Reta moves quickly, so vendors keep producing and testing.

4 kits might cost around $400 or less if you find a good vendor. Test them with a lab if you want, and you've found your 1-year supply for under $1000. Now, for dosing:

You need to follow either the trial protocol (not recommended) or a personal protocol.

Start with 2 mg, stay for 4 weeks, and increase by 0.5 each 4th week. If you're stalled for over a week, increase by 0.5. You'll find your spot. Some people get good results on low doses, while others start at 4 mg.

A lower dose can still be effective. I'm on 2.5 and it's helping me drop almost 30 pounds in 2 months. You just need to find what works for you. I hope it helps.

I feel your frustration! It's all new to me too! I paid $150 for 1 vial (yeah, big mistake!!) and have seen no change in 3 weeks. Probably injecting baby powder, haha! I'm here to educate myself and avoid future mistakes. I'm taking all advice!

Dude, you're all over the place. Slow down. Jumping from 2.5, 5, then 12mg. Your first mistake is listening to the trolls online. Read up here and elsewhere online about Reta. Then, try syringes before moving to pens. Plenty of people here doing it. Look for a reliable source that ships to the UK. Use the search feature up top. How do you know it's not working? Are you monitoring your weight, feelings of fullness, etc.?

I know it's not working because I had a good experience with Reta before and know what 'working' feels like for me. Maybe things won't happen as fast the second time, but I'll give it some time while also searching for a new supplier. Thanks.

I wasn't trying to be rude, but jumping from 5mg to 12mg seemed extreme. I went 4 weeks at 2mg, then 4 weeks at 4mg, and thought I could stay at 4. After 5 pins at 4mg, the scale barely moved. Tomorrow is injection day, and I'm pinning 5mg, likely for 4 weeks.

There's a reviews section here where members share their experiences with different vendors. Look through them and find someone with multiple good reviews to try your next order. While you should never fully trust a vendor, some have built up a good reputation here and elsewhere. Also, while you're titrating up, remember that the amount of Reta in your body increases even if you stay at the same mg per week. With a 7-day half-life, you still have about half the first dose in your body when you take your second shot.

Also, if ordering pens, how do they arrive? Are they ice-packed? I've heard that even a short time at room temperature can ruin the compound.

It's possible I placebo-effected myself with the first pen. It happens! I've done it with things I was excited about and thought would work. Months later, when that 'magic potion' feeling wore off, I realized it wasn't as amazing as I thought. I don't fight the placebo effect, but I'm careful about setting unrealistic expectations.

If the 12mg batch was fake, repeating that dose with a real product could be risky. Sudden jumps to 12mg can cause nausea or vomiting. Be cautious. I don't think tolerance to the weight loss effects of GLP drugs exists, but there's early tolerance to gastric emptying and nausea over the first few months. Also, if you lost a lot of weight in those 10 weeks, that affects things like tolerance. Weight loss causes increased hunger and a lower metabolic rate. If you don't know if the drugs are real, it's harder to figure things out. Not responding to 2.5mg after losing weight might just mean the dose is too low. You were on 4 or 5 mg when the first lot ran out, right?

The safest approach is to increase doses every 4 weeks. If you're older, have diabetes, or serious issues, do it this way. If you're impatient and willing to risk feeling sick, try small, frequent doses. It only takes 1-2 days for blood levels to drop back down if the dose is small. Use glp plotter and know the absorption time (24-48 hours to peak) and half-life (5-6 days). Understand it before trying anything complicated. Side effects usually correspond to peak levels. If you dosed 2.5 mg every 2-3 days, you'd likely find a dose that causes appetite suppression or nausea quickly—within 1-2 weeks. Any side effects or appetite suppression means slow down, stop increasing, stabilize the dose, and increase slowly from there. This can cause unpleasant side effects, but...

I've heard some people have trouble responding to sema/reta at first. Could be you're a "slow responder"? I saw someone online asking if slow responders are just more insulin resistant or something. They were in week 6, just upped to 0.5mg, and not seeing much change, even with diet and exercise. Maybe it just takes a bit longer for some of us!

That's encouraging! I think I just need to be patient and consistent. It's easy to get discouraged when you don't see results right away. Thanks for the reminder!

It's easy to feel like something's not working when you don't see the scale moving, but sometimes your body is doing other things. I read about someone who lost a TON of weight but then stalled for a while. Turns out, they started weightlifting and were gaining muscle while losing inches! The scale wasn't telling the whole story.

Starting point and body composition matter a lot for how the compound performs. Someone coming in at a higher body fat percentage responds differently than someone already lean trying to get leaner. The dose sensitivity, expected pace, and what a plateau looks like are all different depending on where you started. Context matters for interpreting whether something is working or not.
