Reta 'pop' fizzled out?

Hi everyone,

Has anyone else felt a big surge of energy when they first started using Reta, but then it disappeared after the initial period?

During my first 7 days, I felt incredibly energetic. It was similar to drinking a cup of coffee, but not overwhelming like too much caffeine. Just a general feeling of increased energy.

However, after that first week, I no longer experienced the same level of energy. The initial boost seems to have diminished, and I'm curious if there's a way to get it back!

Just to provide some background, I started with 0.5mg and stayed at that dosage for a couple of weeks. Then, I increased it to 1mg, and after a few more weeks, I went up to 2mg. Eventually, I reached 4mg, but I had to reduce it slightly for unrelated reasons.

I'm tempted to increase my dosage to try and recapture that initial feeling, but it significantly reduces my appetite, which is not ideal!

Definitely. The first week was like I'd taken a study aid - laser focus, drive, just banging through tasks. I still get glimpses of that now, especially a day or two after injection, but it's not consistent.

I'm nearly done with week three at 1mg and thinking about upping it next go-round.

I noticed an energy lift swapping from one GLP-1 to Reta. Its still around but now I'm used to having it so it's not as exciting, maybe? Don't go chasing it.

Yes! Precisely that sensation. A friend described it as having 'eagle eye vision'. I really do miss that, but perhaps it's just a matter of getting used to it!

I maintained a dosage of 3mg for a while, then increased to 4mg for one week, and then decreased back to 3mg as I needed a consolidation week. Now I'm back at 4mg.

Never got that boost, sadly.

Ah, that's disappointing for you! It was fantastic!

Yeah, you're probably right – I likely just became accustomed to it.

Also correct, I won't be chasing it. I simply missed that feeling and wondered if others had been able to replicate it.

I had the opposite reaction. During weeks 2 through 4 on Reta, my fatigue was severe. I experienced particularly bad afternoon crashes after consuming a protein shake. At times, I felt like I had narcolepsy, it was so intense. All I wanted to do was sleep. I typically have insomnia, so it was quite strange for me. Thankfully, I no longer experience any of that now.

I'm finding food doesn't taste right anymore. It's a real problem. I'm so grateful for the medication because it's helping a lot, but *everything* tastes either too salty or the texture is just...off. Anyone else?

I get that, @Leslie70. I'm on week 5, 2.5mg, and since my shot Wednesday I can barely eat. Nothing looks good or smells good. I just make myself choke it down.

I feel like I can't taste salt anymore! Like everything needs more salt. But yeah, even when I'm hungry its hard to find anything I want to eat.

For those of you mentioning food weirdness, I find I'm craving fruit a lot. Like, I'd rather have a melon than a steak. Probably not great for macros, but at least it's *something* nutritious.

Thyroid absolutely tanks hair. My endocrinologist looked past normal labs—told me straight up: your TSH is fine but T3's low, skin's bone dry, hair's falling out, you're bradycardic and cold all the time. We're treating symptoms. Got titrated twice; labs got better but not dramatically so kept going higher. Miss that doctor.

dropped about 30 lbs so far and still using it. figure another 30-50 before i'm confident ditching it or asking for a sleep study. my machine is small, doesn't need distilled water, and i feel so much better since starting it. no complaints really.

keto or fasting cycles could help clean things up. i'm on ss-31 and some peptides — took 8 weeks to feel the shift, less naps, better energy. curious what else kicks in over time.

mots-c just made me tired. my mitochondria probably weren't in the place they needed to be for it to work. backed off and working on mito support now, gonna try ss31 and then give mots another shot after that.

Hair loss from the weight dropped back with minoxidil and finasteride. Never had side effects from the second one and saw the biggest regrowth from it.
