Reta's Got Me Feeling...Different

Just documenting my journey with retatrutide. My main focus isn't really dropping pounds - I'm about 6' 3" and weigh around 200lb (though I'd like to shed maybe 10-20lb). It's more about the potential for metabolic repair and rejuvenation after reading Dr. Seeds' book, which makes a strong case for these compounds. I definitely have signs of insulin resistance and a sluggish metabolism, so I'm hoping reta can turn things around fairly early on.

I'm starting with .5mg every 4 days. Took my third dose yesterday. It seems to have suddenly 'kicked in' today: my appetite is way down, and I don't really think much about food. I have to remind myself to eat. My brain's reward system feels different, too. Food isn't as enjoyable; it's more like 'eating to survive' instead of 'surviving to eat.' I've also lost interesting in alcohol and weed recently.

Great to see more people using GLP's for more than just weight management. That reward mechanism shift is pretty impressive. I used to be indifferent to sweets and junk food, but now I get a wave of nausea just thinking about eating sugary or fatty things like pastries. I noticed it also killed my desire for intimacy. Everything still functions normally, but the urge just isn't there. I hadn't heard anyone else mention it but apparently it's a recognized side effect if you look it up.

Out of curiosity, why do you want to lose weight? My husband is about the same height and weight as you, and he's pretty ripped with defined abs. Seems like a good weight. Is it more about body composition?

Hey, thanks for the feedback and anecdotes!

I'm sure I don't have nearly as much muscle as your husband if he's ripped at 6' 3" and 195. I play tennis a lot. Weight/fat equals poor movement, so it's about getting into playing shape, which is ideally low 180s for me. I've gotten a bit fluffy and it's hurting my game.

Wow, this feels like cheating https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ! I mean, seriously? For years, I worked super hard to lose fat, lean out, and build muscle for sports and, yeah, some vanity. It was always tough and required a ton of discipline, but I'd hit my goals. Now I'm older, and it's way harder.

That brings me to...I can't believe this retatrutide hack! It's so easy; what's the catch? I feel like I'm eating the same amount as before. But when I look at my food log, I'm actually taking in about 20% fewer calories each week. And I'm not hungry, I don't think about food, and I feel satisfied. I've been consistently dropping about a pound a week on my protocol of 1mg every 4 days. This is wild!

The main issue is if you don't establish healthy habits, you'll likely bounce back when you stop. Going through weight loss and gain cycles might do damage to your body composition in the long run and cause unforeseen health issues.

These drugs are amazing. I'm going through menopause and developed some insulin resistance after my pregnancy about 5 years ago. My lipids went up, and I started gaining weight. I want to drop the extra weight, but I'm even more focused on becoming metabolically healthy. Being thin isn't the same as a healthy body. I feel so fortunate! Sema didn't do a thing for me, but Tirz and now Reta are like miracle drugs. I also take a bit of Metformin since it's so effective, but I probably don't need it now.

I agree, but personally, I'm not too worried about that. I've been eating clean and maintaining a healthy lifestyle for about 2 decades. I do have metabolic dysfunction symptoms, though: slightly elevated blood pressure, out-of-whack lipids, and creeping fasting glucose/A1C. So, I'm hoping reta can give me a metabolic 'reboot,' so to speak.

Oh, definitely important if you're into a sport like tennis. I have daughters involved in sports and they're just now at the age where we need to discuss how eating affects performance. Trying to broach the body composition conversation without promoting disordered eating is a challenge.

Have you considered creatine? And I agree with Reta, many athletic researchers think it's great. Personally I felt more tired on it but that may just be me. Anyway good luck on your tennis game!

I think it's important to remember that GLP-1 medications are tools, not magic bullets. They can be incredibly effective, but they work best when combined with lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise. Otherwise, as

mentioned, the weight can easily come back.

I'm in my 50s and just started reta. Took a 2.5mg dose a few days ago. So far, I haven't noticed any side effects. Had my usual workout and went about my day. Hunger levels seem unchanged. I'm also on TRT, been on it for a couple of years now.

So, I'm a college student, 21 years old, and not in the best shape (6' and about 270lb). I've been on reta for a couple of weeks. The first week was great, feeling the full effects using 500mcg every 3 days but I upped it and now do 1mg once a week and I dont really feel the affects of it anymore, my food noise has slowly crept back in and my appetite isn’t that suppressed anymore. I'm trying to eat mostly fats and protein and avoid carbs. Any advice?

To @Bio_Squad905: 0.5mcg every 3 days is more than 1mg weekly. I recommend injecting it at least twice a week or more, and upping the dose til you feel the food noise/appetite suppression return!

On Reddit people mentioned sleep disruption even though it should help. Some said opposite if taken before bed. Others bad anxiety or feeling crap. Doctordup2 is a real researcher and posted useful stuff on Epitalon. She made the original GLOW protocol. Everyone is different basically.

Would do it again without hesitation. Nearly zero sides for me though. Different for others for sure. I'm now less than half my 2020 weight. Got from 490 down to 230.
