Retatrutide: Am I even saying it right??

So I was watching the CEO of LLY on a financial show earlier today and he was chatting with the host (stock took a 5% dip, interesting timing?) and when he mentioned reta, I almost choked on my coffee. Turns out, I've been totally butchering the pronunciation.

I've been saying it like ree-tah-troo-tide, emphasis on the first syllable.

But it's actually:

Reh-tat-TROO-tide (emphasis on TROO)

Just a little FYI for everyone!

I'm gonna call it what I want. They invented the word and picked a pronunciation that nobody would actually use.

Google Translate wasn't much help. It wouldn't show a phonetic spelling for the English pronunciation, just gave me the audio. It did show the Chinese, which is 瑞他曲肽 (Ruì tā qū tài).

Yay, I nailed this one by accident. Unlike wegovy, which I pronounced it like
WEG-oh-vee for a long while. Then I heard it on a commercial where they said we-GO-vee.

I'm still struggling with Bacteriostatic Water, which I use when mixing peptides.

Is it Back-terry-oh-static?

I was saying Ra-tet-true-tide for about 14 days after I'd read about it. Then saw some streams with Chase Irons and knew I was wrong. TBH. It felt wrong initially but I couldn’t place it myself. I would hesitate over the name and have to like picture it in my head. 🤣
