Saggy skin woes on RETA - advice?

Hello everyone.

I'm a 6'1" lady, and I began my journey at 273 pounds. I've managed to shed roughly 55 pounds, which leaves me with approximately 30 pounds to go to reach my target BMI.

So far, so good. I never had any saggy skin before. However, due to my current weight loss, I'm noticing some minor sagging, including in my face. It's not a major issue, and I don't want to sound ungrateful - a bit of saggy skin is a small price to pay!

But, as I continue to lose weight: Any tips on minimizing the sagging, both now and in the future? If I have some sagging now, will it worsen significantly as I lose the remaining weight, or will it stay relatively minor? My face is my main concern, of course.

I'm currently injecting GHK-CU. It seems to have reduced blemishes; maybe it's also tightening my facial skin a bit? I've also started applying GHK-CU cream to my face to help tighten things up.

Should I just ignore this saggy skin issue as I lose weight, or should I take steps to address it? Thank you! Am I being overly concerned about this?

Are you on sema or another peptide? "Sema face" is pretty common, mostly due to water loss, I think.

I’m doing better on Reta as well. My neck is now my biggest worry because of the weight loss. I got marionette lines😭. I didn’t have wrinkles when I was heavier. So, I get it.

I've shed over 100 pounds. I have some unfastened skin everywhere you would imagine (and my bum is not so perky anymore, very sad!), but the ones that bothered me the most -- around my jaw and neck -- have improved quite a bit since I (mostly) stopped losing weight about four months ago. I've heard that's pretty common, so you might just need to wait a little after your active weight loss is over to see some changes.

I drink a lot of water and eat a lot of fatty fish, avocados, lean protein, greens, and rarely drink alcohol -- I don't know if any of that is helping, but it probably doesn't hurt. I'm slowly starting to gain some muscle back, and that's helping a little, too. But I think at my age and with this much weight lost, I can't really do much more without surgery, which, meh. I'm wondering if the GLOW protocol has any effect on skin elasticity, though!

Thank you so much! So, once my weight stabilizes, my skin could tighten up a bit. A low-sodium diet may reduce puffiness too.

I think Bug_Gal hit the nail on the head. Rapid weight loss, especially when induced by medications affecting fluid balance, is often associated with a gaunt or aged appearance. It's not necessarily *true* skin sagging, but rather a loss of volume that makes the skin appear less plump. Staying hydrated and focusing on a balanced diet are good starting points, as GastricEmpty mentioned. Also, resistance exercise can help rebuild some of the lost volume with muscle.

I appreciate the advice! I'll up my water intake and keep up with the resistance training. Maybe I'll add some collagen supplements to see if they help with skin elasticity.

Regarding collagen supplements, the evidence is mixed. Some studies show improvements in skin elasticity, while others show no significant effect. It's generally considered safe, so it might be worth a try, but manage your expectations. Topical retinoids (like tretinoin) are also worth considering, as they can stimulate collagen production in the skin. Be sure to use sunscreen though, as they increase sun sensitivity.

Felt so much better after 2 weeks on Mounjaro, and way better after a year! The skin looseness is real but worth it, honestly.
