Scale's not budging! Help!

OK, so I started at 230 (I'm a 30-year-old woman, 5'3"). The first month on this stuff, I dropped about 12 pounds. Now it's month two, and I've only lost two stinkin' pounds. I know it's not terrible, but I feel like I'm barely eating anything – maybe 1000 cals a day.

Plus, I have a desk job, so I'm sitting all day long.

Any advice? Is it 'cause I'm a couch potato? Is this normal? I definitely feel less hungry, and I see changes in the mirror, but I want it to happen faster, lol.

14 pounds in two months is awesome! It's totally normal for weight loss to fluctuate.

Try to exercise regularly, eat healthy, and don't stress too much about the scale. The meds help, but they're not magic.

Keep going – you'll get there!

Hydrate! I've noticed when my weight loss stalls, it's usually because I need more water. Upping my water intake usually gets things moving again.

It's better to lose weight at a slower pace. And I think your pace sounds pretty healthy. I'd suggest getting off the scale for a while and just focus on being healthy and adjusting to the medication.

14 lbs in 2 months is actually really good. I'm only down 10 and I'm happy with that. I think a slower loss looks better anyway. If you aren't already, start taking measurements! That's where I see the most change. I use a smart scale and measuring tape that sync to an app – makes it really easy.

Focus on non-scale victories – like clothes fitting better, seeing changes in the mirror, etc. Think of the scale as just data to track in a spreadsheet to watch trends over time.

Weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint. I'm 155 pounds down, but it's taken me a few years. My first year was 72.4 lbs, my second was 54.8 lbs, and this year has been less. Some months are great, others I barely lose anything. I live way up north now, so I'm not as active due to the weather. Just keep at it, it all adds up!

You're probably expecting too much too soon. Be patient. The medicine might not be fully effective until the third month. Any loss is still a loss!

I think that's pretty fast. 14 lbs is like 6% of your starting weight. 6% in two months is a good rate. The lopsided loss is probably water weight changes while your body gets used to it, but you're doing great!

If you think you're eating 1000 calories, that means you aren't tracking! I'm not saying you HAVE to track, or that tracking makes you lose more.

Your results sound similar to mine (I don't track, 5'3, desk job, don't move much, but I started around 300 and I'm 37). My first pen I lost about 17 lbs, my second pen I lost nothing. I just took my second 1 mg shot from my 3rd pen and I’m down another 8 lbs.

I asked about the lack of loss too, and everyone said it's normal.

I know you want it to come off faster! Remember you didn't gain it in 2 months, so it won’t come off in 2 months. Also, moving more wouldn't hurt. Good luck!

I started at around the same weight as you and I've lost 40 lbs in 16 months. I'm hoping that slow weight loss means it is more likely to stay off. I have no actual proof, but it helps me stay motivated. 14 lbs in 2 months is not slow! Averaging the loss over time can help you keep it in perspective.

1000 cals per day is as low as I can go without starving. I can't do that for more than a day or two. I usually eat around 1300-1500 cals a day.

Thanks for all the advice and encouragement, everyone! I guess I was being impatient. I'll try to focus on the non-scale victories and drink more water. Maybe try to move around more too, even with my desk job.

Exactly!

Even small changes, like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, can make a difference over time.
