Sema dose confusion?

Okay, so I'm on my second month now. They gave me 1mL for the whole month, but I'm supposed to be injecting .44mg every week for a month. Does 1 ml even cover all 4 weeks? Or am I missing something?

Okay, never mind, I'm an idiot.

I get it now. But uh, I injected too much. So, according to what I've been reading I might have a rough week. I feel okay right now, but I'll keep you all updated in case I die, for science.

Please verify your calculations. 10 units equates to 0.1 mL, making 9 units 0.09 mL. Given your dose is roughly 0.088 mg, 0.09 is a reasonable approximation using standard syringes.

That vi@l has 5 mg of sema (5mg/mL @ 1mL). You're only doing 0.44mg weekly. After a month, you'll have injected 1.76mg total. So you'll have 3.24mg left over plus the overfill. Use it all!

Make sure you're really clear on the difference between MG and ML, that's where the mix-up happens. Your dose is in units, and the .44 is the MG of medication you're getting when you inject 9 units. I'm brainstorming how to make a basic guide explaining the difference between MG, ML, and Units for newbies. I tried just explaining it but I ended up just doing the reconstitution and drawing out the dose for everyone.

As a nurse, I totally see why prefilled pens are needed. MG and ML get mixed up all the time. MG is the amount of drug in the solution, and ML is the amount of solution. The biggest worry is the slowed digestion. They increase the dose gradually for a reason. Your GI tract can literally get paralyzed if you up the dose too much or too fast. Sorry if this is gross, but Just_Quest, if you're still passing gas, having bowel movements, or at least can hear or feel your bowels moving in all parts of your stomach, you're probably okay. If not, go to the ER.

Okay, I'm still alive, lol. Just feeling a bit queasy. I'm gonna stick with the pens after this.

That's why I stick to the pens. All that math makes my head spin.
I agree!

I've been on .5 for like a year and a half and dropped about 70 pounds. I tried going up to 1mg and stopped losing anything, so I went back to .5. No idea why, but it works for me.

If you're using the green 1mg pen, you can still do smaller doses. You just have to count the clicks. 37 clicks is half a mg.

The 6-month Rx being used to drop the dose without consent is worth disputing. Your prescribing record documents the treatment history even if the written Rx is old. Three 5mg vials at 2.4mg/week would be slightly over a 90-day supply - the math is roughly right. The real issue is the substitution without warning, worth a formal complaint and note on the chart for future orders.
