Hi everyone! I'm feeling so incredibly grateful right now, and I wanted to share my story. Maybe it'll resonate with someone who's just beginning, thinking about starting, or feeling a little unsure. I was definitely there, scrolling through posts like this, wondering if things would ever change for me.

Well, they did!

I just celebrated my one-year anniversary on semaglutide. It's hard to believe how different I feel. When I started, I was around 315 pounds, and I was just constantly exhausted. Even sitting felt like a chore!

Now, I'm at 234 pounds. That's about 81 pounds gone! More importantly, I feel like I'm actually living life again. I have energy, I walk because it feels good. Stairs are no longer a big deal. I can breathe! I even started going to the gym, and I actually enjoy it! (Who am I?)

Semaglutide wasn't some quick fix, but it gave me something I desperately needed: peace. The constant food cravings that had plagued me for years quieted down. My cravings became manageable, sometimes even disappearing altogether. It was like a reset button, giving me the space to make healthier choices and form lasting habits.

I knew sustainable weight loss would take time, which always scared me and led me to try fad diets in the past. But I decided to give it a try, focusing on the healthiest approach possible. Surprisingly, I actually had fun along the way, and some days it almost felt too simple.

Weight loss is all about a calorie deficit. Once I found the right range for me, semaglutide changed everything. I wasn't constantly battling hunger, which had always been the reason I reverted to old habits. This allowed me to finally start. I wasn't perfect, but I learned how to enjoy my favorite foods while practicing portion control. That naturally led to a better diet: high protein, lots of fiber, balanced meals.

This medication helped my brain feel satisfied with my choices, instead of demanding unhealthy comfort food after a rough day. And even though getting older can make it harder to see results, my efforts paid off. It's amazing.

Sure, there were stalls, especially around that time of the month, but my body always adjusted and continued to lose weight. I had some side effects, like sulfur burps and some digestive issues early on. But honestly, my body handled it, and the symptoms improved over time. Even at their worst, I'd do it again without hesitation. The result was a bigger, brighter world filled with opportunities.

I fit comfortably in airplane seats. I say yes to social gatherings. I even started dating again! And I laugh more... all those little things that make a huge difference in quality of life that I had given up to my old habits. I feel like I've been given a second chance at life.

I'm not finished yet, probably another 65 pounds to go, but I'm so grateful for what this year has brought me.

If you're just starting out, don't give up. The small promises you make to yourself add up in ways that will completely transform your life. You can do this! 💛

I'm happy to answer any questions!

I think the real "magic" is definitely the decrease in food cravings. Anyone who sees it as a way to magically transform into some celeb are gonna be disappointed. Either they got unrealistic expectations or don't really need to lose much weight in the first place, or they're dealing with the kind of mental and metabolic stuff that causes extreme weight gain.

Oh my gosh, thank you for this post. I felt emotional reading it, you sound so happy and content. I want to be writing this post myself a year from now!

I started ozempic in late July and it was amazing for like, 3 weeks - lost almost 15lbs, food noise GONE, felt full all the time. But then it just stopped working! I also had awful side effects that have thankfully subsided too. I just replied to someone else in a thread who started at the same time as me and has lost twice as much weight. Your post reminded me to put in more effort. Even though the food noise is coming back and I don't feel as full, it's still better than before. I gotta keep the faith.

You've done amazing!

Fantastic! I'm at about 230 now, down from 345, and I credit ozempic for probably 30 lbs of that. You're so right about "tired in ways I didn't even realize" because it was so hard to just function throughout the day without feeling overwhelmed. It was difficult to realize that my weight was the cause of so many problems. My experience has been similar, sometimes during my cycle I gain like, 9 lbs! Then it all disappears, plus an extra pound or so, over the course of 2-3 days when my period starts.

Anyone else having a hard time figuring out dosages? I see some people go straight to the max dose, others stay low and slow. I'm kinda stuck at 1mg and not sure if I should keep going up. Any advice?

Snack_Go493, it's best to discuss dosage adjustments with your doctor. Everybody responds differently. Some people do great on a lower dose, others need more to see results. Definitely don't increase without medical guidance, especially if you're experiencing side effects.

I'm so inspired by everyone's journeys here! I am starting at almost the same stats (weight and clothing size) as someone I read about who went from a UK 20 (US 16) to UK 12 (US 8) and lost like 45 inches around their waist! That is incredible. It gives me motivation to keep going!
