Sema Journey: Six Months In!

From September to now - I've shed about 40 pounds! I managed the first 15 all on my own, then started semaglutide in January. I weighed about 225 and now I'm down to 185. I'm hoping to lose another 5-10 pounds, but honestly, I'm really happy where I am right now.

I used to be a CrossFit instructor and a Strongman competitor. But I have a bunch of autoimmune, genetic, and hormonal issues that completely wrecked my health for the last 5 years. I put on nearly 50 pounds from my competition weight, and I was constantly battling bad inflammation and daily pain. I had a partial hysterectomy last summer, which gave me some relief, but I still felt like a stranger in my own body. I needed to make a change.

Semaglutide has been amazing for my health. I'm on a pretty low dose, and I think I could stay on it forever to keep the inflammation at bay! I've also gotten into infrared fitness and I'm back to doing yoga instead of powerlifting. I'm still holding onto my muscle mass without any problems. I finally feel like myself again!

That's fantastic! Could you tell me what your protein intake has been like while using semaglutide? I've worked really hard to build muscle, and even though I'm still working out, I'm worried I'll lose a lot of it since I can barely handle protein since starting injections.

I really appreciate you sharing your health journey. I've been struggling with similar problems for the past 3 years. I just took my first shot this morning hoping it'll help with inflammation (and if I lose fat, that's great too!). But I'm really hoping to just feel less stiff and swollen!!

Incredible progress! If you don't mind sharing, what's the small dose you're on, and did you experience any side effects?

Hey A1C_Warrior, I try to get at least 80g of protein every day. It's hard sometimes! I'm using protein shakes to supplement when I can't eat enough solid food. Maybe try that?

Thanks for the tip! I'll try to choke down some shakes. I'm determined not to lose my hard-earned gains!

I just hit the one-month mark. I'm down 11 lbs. I started around 220 lbs. Hope to get down to at least 170. It's really motivating seeing other people have success!

I'm on 0.5mg. No real side effects except I get full *really* fast. I also don't crave junk food anymore, which is amazing!
