Sema Since Oct '24 - My Story!

I've been on semaglutide since October of last year and plan to keep it going! It's been a game changer for me. I've been fortunate to not experience many side effects, just some weight reduction and the occasional sulfur burp that's easily fixed with some antacid. Also, some minor constipation, but nothing I can't handle.

I started around 255 lbs and have been steady at 145-150 lbs for the last couple of months. I'm 5'8 and happy where I'm at. I haven't weighed this little since my teens, and I'm now 43. I've fought with my weight since my 20s, and the best I could do with intense dieting and workouts was 180 lbs, but it always came back. I could never maintain it.

Keep up the great work, everyone! It's effective! I'll admit, I didn't do much exercise at all, but I've totally changed my eating habits (though, yes, I do indulge sometimes). You need to prioritize protein, veggies, lean/non-fat foods, eliminate sugar, etc., and maintain a calorie deficit (I aim for 1200-1500 calories daily), but the medication makes it doable without feeling deprived! Your body will adjust, and it'll become automatic. Sure, I still dine out and enjoy dessert, have some ice cream now and then, maybe a candy bar from the gas station, but I don't overdo it. I can eat a bit and feel satisfied. Seriously, this medication is life-changing, and I no longer have daily binge eating or sugar cravings. It's incredible.

In the before photo, I was probably a size 22. In the after photo, a size 10. I've probably lost another 8-10 lbs since that photo and am maintaining it. I never thought I could be 145 again at 43.

That's amazing! What's your current dose? I'm in a similar situation but not as far along, down about 40 lbs in 10 months. You're a true inspiration!

Gradual, consistent progress is often underestimated. Reviewing progress month after month showcases cumulative changes. My experience has been similar, and I didn’t fully grasp it until I compared visuals and lab results.

Did you modify your diet and follow a specific fitness plan? I'm not having any success with losing weight on it!

For me, the biggest thing was changing my eating habits. I didn't follow a super strict diet, but I focused on getting enough protein, lots of vegetables, and cutting out sugary drinks. I also tried to keep my calories in check, aiming for around 1200-1500 per day. The sema really helped with the cravings, so it wasn't too difficult!

Started my semaglutide journey October 2024 and will be doing it for the rest of my life!

That's amazing progress! I'm so glad you're feeling better. I also have prediabetes and insulin resistance so it's inspiring to hear your story. May I ask how old you are and if you see excess skin?
