Sharing GLP-1 use: yay or nay?

I'm just sayin', if people wanna give you grief about using GLP-1s, or your diet, or weight loss, or whatever... it's really none of their concern.

You don't have to tell them a thing.

If they ask why you're not eating much, say you have a stomach bug.

If they're curious about the weight loss, make something up that sounds reasonable. "I'm doing low carb." "I only eat pasta on Sundays."

Otherwise, zip it. Let them enjoy counting calories and drinking kale smoothies.

Stop making it a big deal.

You don't have to defend yourself, especially if you're feeling good and seeing results.

I tell everyone who asks. If my experience can help someone else, then I'm happy to share! I just ignore the negative comments. But I totally get if you don't want to deal with that. Everyone has to do what's right for them.

You're absolutely right, no one is entitled to your personal info. But also, don't let other people's opinions get to you.

If you tell someone you're on Ozempic, and they start with the unsolicited advice or criticism, just say, "Thanks, I appreciate your concern, but I've got it covered" and change the subject.

Boundaries are about your actions, not other people's. It's about not letting negative stuff in and ending conversations when they're not productive.

I personally am pretty open about it. I think it's a game-changer, but honestly, I haven't really encountered much negativity. Maybe I'm just good at tuning it out.

I've been on it for 3 years and haven't told a soul. I just don't want the drama. I've lost around 65 pounds and still want to lose another 35 or so. A friend recently said, "Please don't take those weight loss drugs, they're so dangerous!" Haha... sure thing, pal.

lol fr tho. i've only told like, one person irl that i'm on mounjaro, the rest i'm not telling and i don't feel bad. i'd rather not have to talk about it and it's nobody's business anyway

Totally! If folks comment on me being too skinny now or tell me to stop losing weight, I just say "Didn't ask!" and walk away.

The problem with people finding out is they assume it's some kind of magic shot and ignore the fact that we're also eating clean and hitting the gym... it's a combination of things. So, I keep it to myself. None of their business.

I actually DO tell people.

"Why did you stop having a beer with us?"

"Mounjaro."

"You're looking trimmer!"

"Mounjaro."

If it inspires someone else, awesome. 😄

I'm an open book! I don't care anymore.

It's changed my life, and if sharing my story helps one person, it's worth it. People will whine about anything. Who cares? Those same people would complain even if you won a million bucks. I let them yap and ignore it.

I'm upfront with my family and close friends about the medication that has finally brought my diabetes and other health issues under control after decades. I share because many of them are dealing with similar struggles. I'm so grateful and want to pay it forward.

What bothers me is when people don't admit to GLP-1 use but constantly post their weight-loss/fitness pics online. Don't brag about your results and pretend it's all you when it's not.

I've only had good convos about losing weight on Mounjaro. Some people are curious because they’ve heard of it and want to know about it. Everyone's happy that I'm slimming down and looking healthier. Why hide it?

Those of you who still drink, have you noticed any changes since starting your GLP-1?

Yeah, I can't drink as much as I used to. Two beers and I'm done. It's kinda nice, saves me money.

TBH I've been avoiding alcohol since starting Mounjaro. I heard the hangovers are ROUGH. Like, even worse than usual. Not worth it to me tbh

I can def relate to HeartCoffee about the social media thing. It's one thing to keep your medical info private, but another to pretend your quick weight loss is ALL hard work and discipline. It perpetuates unrealistic ideals.
