Sketchy shipping co - scam?

Hey everyone. I'm looking for some advice. I tried a new source for the first time. I was after some AOD 9604 from a US-based place and ended up dealing with Leon at Peps and Anabolics R Us. They seemed to have certs of analysis for everything. I just ordered one item, thank goodness, because the shipping company they used is super shady. They want a $100 security payment via crypto before they'll deliver. I told them no way. The vendor is saying they'll reship via UPS, but it feels like a scam. The shipper is sending texts like "this is illegal" (it isn't) and threatening me with law enforcement. I'm not paying them anything. I didn't have much crypto to begin with. I'm assuming I'm just scammed. What would you do? Just give up or something else?

Being super helpful is totally part of the scam.

This is always a scam.

I haven't heard of them. That's how people get scammed -- finding random sources or letting them find you.

I reached out to them, I should have been more careful. It wasn't a lot of money, and I didn't pay the "deposit". What else should I do to warn others? Post about it somewhere else? Thanks.

Where did you find their contact info?

NEVER use contact info that someone else posted, linked, or shared!

NEVER use contact info from a vendor if they contacted YOU first!

Find the vendor's own posts/pages/groups where they're sharing contact info (in multiple places, over weeks/months). Check multiple venues to confirm. Even then, imposter scams are common. "PepzStore" can look like "PepsStore" if you aren't paying attention.

People being lazy or rushing is how scammers win.

Finding vendor pages implies they're shared, like in the vendor section? All the posting/sales there seems like bait for the next person.

The deposit is a huge red flag. No need to go outside this community. A few vendors have years of positive feedback, some are promising newcomers, and others are trying to break in. Constant updates here. Why would anyone pick a stranger? If a vendor goes bad, it's all discussed here.

That's thanks to @ZippityDooDah for keeping it real. We'll eventually buy from a vetted vendor, and then a test will show it's all bunk. Just how it goes.

I've been here a couple months and haven't seen that yet. I did catch the story about the vendor that supposedly sent people to the ER. Everyone had an opinion on that one!

I think the scammer posted on a scraping site, but I couldn't find the original post. It might have been Telegram. I didn't do my homework and got taken in. If I had asked here, I wouldn't have fallen for it. Lesson learned. They'll probably change the name and try again. I'll be way more careful.

I was looking at a east coast company that sells peps, are those usually legit? I saw some good prices on a couple of them and was thinking about trying them out.
It can be difficult to tell. It is important to remember that many peptides are not FDA approved. It is also important that you purchase from reputable compounders, who will be more likely to have higher quality controls.
