Skin removal after weight loss?

I didnt see a subreddit for skin removal after major weight loss and I'm not brave enough for the regular plastic surgery one, so I'm here! You all are the best.

Has anyone with similar stats gone through skin removal? Can you share your experiences here or in DMs?

I had my consultation and we decided on a typical tummy tuck and a breast lift/reduction for my first procedure. In my plastic surgery after weight loss FB group, someone wondered why I wasn't getting a Fleur-de-Lis tummy tuck saying my upper tummy rolls wouldn't disappear without it.

Many there assumed I was getting an FDL, and I thought so too, but my surgeon said I don't need it because I have a defined waist. She'll use lipo to thin things out and release the extra skin so the rolls will go away. I trust her expertise.

So, for those who had hanging skin after significant weight loss, what surgeries did you get and are you satisfied with the results? What would you change?

Also, if you've had skin removal and then gained or lost weight after, how did that affect your results?

Thanks!

Thanks for posting! Reminder: no discussing non-FDA approved stuff or selling meds. Don't respond to DMs offering that stuff.

If you still want to lose more weight, wait. Lift weights and get close to your goal before surgery. One surgery is better than multiple.

When I was your age, I decided I was gorgeous, period. Imperfections are just details.

Plastic surgery can be disappointing if you aren't in the right headspace. The results might be great, but you'll find something else to fixate on. Love your body. It's just skin and fat. Your body carries you through life. It deserves praise, even if you aren't at your goal yet.

Sorry for the long message. Good luck with surgery!

I'm around 5'8 and lost over 160 lbs about 20 years ago. My skin was worse, and I waited 2 years before surgery (paid for by my state). I'm not in the US.

If you want to lose more, postpone surgery until your eating habits are solid.

I had an abdominoplasty first, then a thigh lift a couple of years later. No lipo, as it was free and seen as reconstructive.

Ten years later, I gained weight, but it didn't affect my skin. I lost it again and added muscle. My skin is still okay.

You look incredible! Love that dress!

the community has people getting skin removed after weight loss. You might like it there more than the general plastic surgery sub.

You look amazing!!! I get wanting the skin gone, but you look like women my age (40s) who've had kids and C-sections. Your natural shape will make for incredible results!

Edit: I see you said where the dress is from after I commented, lol.

I had lower body lift, arms, and legs done. It's tough, but my pain from chafing and rashes is way down. I have scars now, maybe replaced the skin insecurities with scar insecurities. I've gained and lost since then with little issue. There are pros and cons. I'm happy I did it. Choose a good surgeon! 🖤✨ Good luck

This is great!! Must be life-changing.

What's it like after stopping GLP? Are you managing food noise okay? I hear a lot about success ON GLP, but not much about life AFTER.

Major accomplishment. Life-changing. Skin removal is personal if it affects movement or confidence. You earned whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for the tip! I think I'll check it out!

Has anyone experinced hair loss after losing weight? I've noticed my hair has thinned out a lot since dropping the weight.

Yeah, it's common. Rapid weight loss can trigger it. It's usually temporary though. Make sure you're eating enough protein and getting all your vitamins.

Something I didn't expect - my eyes look bigger! I guess I had a lot of fat around my eyebrows, haha.

Anyone else notice unexpected changes?
