Slow and steady wins the race?

Since late autumn, I've managed to drop about 17 lbs, which is awesome! It's been about a pound each week. Honestly, I haven't been pushing myself super hard, just making better food decisions. I'm neurodivergent and struggle with eating issues, swinging between extremes. Given I've got a long way to go (around 200 lbs), should I aim for a faster loss, like 2 lbs weekly, or stick with my current mellow pace?

I agree with @LBM_hacker. A pound a week without excessive effort is fantastic.

A pound a week is a reasonable and sustainable target. I'd suggest continuing as you are and prioritizing your food habits.

Given your history of disordered eating, pushing too hard might trigger old unwanted behaviors. Slow and gradual progress is ideal.

Remember, this is a marathon. Nurturing a healthy relationship with food is equally important as the weight you shed.

I saw someone else lost almost 30 pounds in like a month and a half? Is that normal???
That's rapid weight loss, and could be concerning. Rapid weight loss can sometimes indicate a loss of muscle mass rather than just fat, and can also be related to dehydration or other underlying health issues. Always best to check with a doctor if you're losing weight very quickly.

Spot on, @LBM_hacker. It's crucial to monitor for muscle loss and potential signs of rhabdomyolysis, cardiac arrhythmias, or other complications associated with very rapid weight loss. Such a significant deficit can be dangerous, so medical supervision is essential.

Love seeing posts where progress just builds steady. That's the real goal. My own journey via Zappy Health has been gradual but I'm staying the course.

Needed to read this. Started early December at 240, now 201, getting discouraged because only losing 6 pounds in March when I've got so much left to go. Motivation took a hit. But you're right-patience works and we're all going to succeed.
