Slow weight loss on sema a worry?

Hey everyone,

I've been injecting weekly since early January, moving up the dose every couple weeks. Started at 0.2mg, now at 0.6mg.

I started at 168 lbs, now I'm at 163 lbs. Goal weight is 135 lbs. Is losing this slowly normal? Will it work faster once I get to the max dose?

I'm not having any bad side effects, and it's helped quiet down the food cravings for sure.

Thanks!

Yep, slow is a good thing. Rapid weight loss happens when people use high doses due to cost pressures. The ideal way to use it is for a longer period at a more moderate dosage.

Any progress is still progress, and 5 lbs when you're starting at 168 is awesome. Keep at it!

For the first month, I didn't change my diet at all or even check the scale. I let my body get used to the medication and focused on small changes like less food noise, which led to less binging and generally feeling better.

Like some people have asked, are you watching what you eat? Semaglutide helps you feel full and reduces food cravings, but you still need a good diet. You've already lost some weight, so it's working!

Losing weight slowly can be frustrating, but it tends to be more lasting. The telehealth provider I use set that expectation with me early on, so I didn’t freak out when it wasn’t super fast.

I can relate to your feelings, @Great_Ave.

is so true. I've been on this journey for about 3 years, first with one med and then another. I'm totally okay with the slow progress. It's been about 140 pounds over those years and I've had to redefine my identity. It's a process!

I know it's easy to get caught up in the numbers, but remember why you're doing this.

Focusing on healthy habits and how you feel is way more important than just hitting a specific number on the scale.

Thanks, everyone, for the helpful words. I'm definitely trying to track calories and increase protein intake and incorporate daily walks now into my daily routine. I was just getting a little impatient. I appreciate the reality check!

finally got energy back for the gym once the food noise quieted down, taking it really easy and building back up, mostly working on tightening the soft spots. started at 318 but i'm at 306 now and only been on sema for about 10 weeks
