So nervous to start sema!

My prescription's been sitting in the fridge since late last year. I was laid off from my job around the same time it arrived. I have been trying to take it easy on myself since I was forced into so many changes at once. I'm working part time in food service. I finally found a new full time job, but I'm going to be working both for a little while to get back on my feet.

I'm just really anxious about starting. I've seen some of the negative experiences like anxiety getting worse, digestive distress, and severe nausea. I'm so scared because I'm working 2 jobs!

I realize I may be worrying more than necessary.

Any advice or encouragement would be very welcome.

Everyone has different experiences, but this med has been life-changing for me. If needed, I might stay on it forever. Start low and slow! Use a lower dose than normal, and titrate slowly. I began with .125 mg per week and had no problems. I'm at .25 mg now, and still feel great. Maybe start on a Friday so you have the weekend to recover if needed. That might ease your worries. Good luck!

I get the anxiety - but a lot of people sail through with zero issues. I had a headache once because I skipped a meal, but that was easily fixed. I felt a little queasy when increasing my dose a couple times, but not anymore. Also, since you are waiting tables, you'll be getting more exercise than someone at a desk job. That could actually help!

Don't be afraid. People tend to post when something goes wrong. Do your shot in the evening, and buy some protein powder; it'll be your new best friend :D

I'm also worried. My stomach is sensitive to many things. Whey is a big problem for me, so protein powder and bars are out. I also don't do well with regular dairy, but I've been okay with lactose-free protein yogurt. I got my med this week, and they want me to start on a high dose. Is 20 units equal to 1 mg? Should I start with 10?

@Robin_38, definitely confirm that with your doctor or pharmacist! Don't take medical advice from random people online. But yeah, starting lower is a great idea if you're nervous.

Good luck to everyone just starting out! This group is a great place to get info and ask questions. Don't be afraid to ask anything - there's no such thing as a dumb question when it comes to your health!

No emotional stuff for me, and I'm usually prone to depression. I've got ADHD, anxiety, the works—on meds for all of it. Got off one med that was making me gain weight, but the weight stuck around till I started this. Just some constipation and I've lost 120 pounds in 6 years. Can't complain.

i had gallbladder surgery at 18 after dropping from 280 to 210 in a year—this was way before any GLP stuff. i'm 33 now and honestly? life's not dramatically different. biggest thing is timing when i need to go. gallstone pain was the worst—made me cry. surgery was worth it because stones just keep coming back.

This excites me too. Just started 2.5 a couple days ago with similar beginning numbers. M42, 280, 5'10. What does your daily diet look like? Doing strict keto, calorie restriction, or just eating less? Any real side effects or stomach issues? Have you made big lifestyle shifts? Honestly nervous about what I'm walking into here. Any advice appreciated.

The prescription sitting in the fridge is the hardest step - the first injection is usually anticlimactic compared to the buildup, and the manageable side effects at 0.25mg make the first week much less dramatic than people expect.
