Someone noticed my weight loss!

I figured it would be a substantial amount of weight before I really noticed a change in my appearance, much less anyone else pointing it out. I tend to wear clothes that are a bit too big for me anyway.

But today, someone at work stopped me and asked if I'd been losing weight, and it felt great! I took a look in the mirror afterwards and I can definitely see some changes. My compression shirts feel a little looser around my arms. My scrubs aren't as tight around the waist anymore.

As a mesomorph, I'm paying more attention to how I feel physically. I have a lot of muscle mass, so aiming for a weight that's considered 'healthy' might not be the best thing for me. But still... yay! It's actually visible now!

Thanks, everyone! It's definitely motivating to hear the encouragement. I'm also a bit nervous about maintenance once I get closer to my goal. Has anyone had experience with that?

I would suggest talking to a dietitian if your insurance covers it. They can help you maintain your weight without feeling too restricted. Don't get too hung up on your BMI as it's not always accurate. It doesn't consider muscle mass or fat distribution.

Which tracking app are you using? Always helpful to hear what works for others dealing with the same situation.

Only told family and doctor. Don't discuss medications with coworkers or friends normally, so why begin now? Frankly not their concern. Nobody's said anything about my loss anyway, not sure if folks even noticed.

17 years clean and tracking mood changes that carefully is a real data point. Tirz anhedonia comes up more in reward-sensitive people - the GIP receptor component is the likely driver. Reta not triggering it tracks with the different receptor profile. Individual variation is wide enough that it's worth tracking as you hold at current dose. The first external notice tends to come before your own mirror catches up.

21 lbs from a SW of 253 means the scale has moved enough that other people's eyes are catching what your brain is slower to update on. The early calorie discrepancy you're describing - losing more than the math predicts - is consistent with the GLP-1 metabolic effect beyond simple suppression. Visceral fat loss changes the inflammation picture faster than body weight changes do. The 'someone noticed' moment is the first external confirmation that the process is working.
