Starting my GLP-1 journey! 🥳

Whoa... I didn't expect to feel judged here.

I genuinely thought this was a supportive space for sharing our health journeys without negativity.

Just to be clear: I'm currently around 200 lbs. Six months ago, I was closer to 170. The weight came on quickly with some life changes (which I won't detail here).

My reason for starting semaglutide is to feel better physically – not just lighter on the scale, but also in how I move. I have some hip arthritis, and the extra weight makes everything feel stiffer and harder. Even walking feels like a chore. I miss feeling free in my body and doing the activities I love – dance, yoga, walks, lifting.

I didn't think my post would become a debate. I understand everyone has different reasons, and this isn't about who 'deserves' it more. We all deserve support in taking care of ourselves, however that looks.

Some people just love to gatekeep access to medications.

"Oh, it's a wonder drug, but if you don't perfectly fit my idea of who should use it… shame on you!"

Ignore that noise. You've got this. Believe you can, and you will. Stay strong, stay motivated, and kick some butt!

You'll be looking great by summer if you combine it with regular workouts and aiming for 10k steps a day!

Ignore the negativity. I only wanted to lose like, 40 lbs... but at 5'1", that's a lot for me. Even with medication, it's been work to lose the final 10. It's been half a year, so the weight doesn't just disappear, especially when you are close to your goal.

Good for you for taking action early.

You'll do amazing. Remember to focus on protein to help keep your muscle mass as you lose. Protein shakes really help me. I like the Premier Protein ones. Some days I just can't stand the idea of eating chicken or beef.

I'm using small doses too, to lose about 15 lbs related to menopause and to help with inflammation. My doctor thinks it will help me feel better. Some people have strong opinions about it. We're all responsible for our own health. Don't listen to the negative people. Good luck, I think you will do great!

Don't listen to the gatekeepers. Do what you need to do to get healthier, and use these meds to help with the stuff that caused the weight gain, like managing stress.

Check out these subs, too:
the community (less judgmental)
the community (you can guess what that's about).

Good luck!

I’m hoping semaglutide gives me the boost I need to get back to that version of myself.
I totally get that. It's not always about the number on the scale, but about feeling like you can do the things you enjoy. I hope it helps you get back to your dance and yoga!
