Suddenly I'm...visible?

Something I've noticed as I'm getting into shape. Folks treat you different. And I'm in sales. My closing rate is way better than before I started! I'm sure my confidence has something to do with it. But it has to be because I look better too...

People make snap judgements, that's just how we're wired. Looking good might get you in the door, but your personality keeps it open. Feeling healthier also probably boosts your confidence, and THAT is what helps seal the deal.

I’ve lost about 65 pounds, doing hard-core yoga every other day and finally starting to look a little toned (considering I'm over 50).

In the last few months, several times I’ve had women my age smile at me when I'm out shopping. Never used to happen--
I was basically invisible. More people- women and men- start chatting me up while waiting in lines.

It's pretty cool- and I am never quitting my meds!

I'm seeing the same thing, and honestly it's creeping me out a bit. I think I was happier when nobody noticed me.

I hear ya. Socially, it's easier. But when it helps you at work, it's nice to see the change.🙂

Dude! It happened to me twice this week. Two different women checked me out and smiled. I'm not used to that kind of attention. I'm married and in my 50's but I still thought it was fun.
I've also had a few people say, "you look great" lately. The kind of friends who would also say "you look awful" or "is that your breath or mine?" Those kinds of friends.
Has anyone else been getting comments?

I really do think it's that people are superficial. I didn't even notice your screen name until you mentioned losing weight. Just saying!

The only drawback for me after shedding 60+ lbs is that I now look my actual age. I didn't before. I'm trying to fix it with topical copper peptides mixed with some other stuff, and it's working pretty well. No huge tightening, but my skin tone has never been better.

And if you want to be ignored, just wait until you get into your late 60's-70s. People just look right through you.

LOL, yeah it freaks you out when stuff like that happens. One of my employee’s wife said “hey you look great” while he could hear. I have never seen someone give such a death stare EVER!!! But I did appreciate the comment.

You nailed it. My youthful face is gone, and it is changing how people see me at work. In some ways that is better, in others it has not helped.

There's some evidence that GLP-1s can help with binge eating, beyond just helping with weight. It seems to calm down that constant "food noise" some people describe, that never-ending loop of thinking about food. Some patients report the urge to binge just... stops, probably from how these meds work.

That's really interesting. I've been dealing with some binge eating issues and this might be something to look into with my doctor.

I was on a similar med a while back + it messed with my head big time: panic attacks, agoraphobia, trouble sleeping, OCD started. I'm thinking of trying another type of GLP-1. I need help with binge eating and weight loss, but I'm really nervous I'll have the same problems again.

I have bipolar disorder, and the meds for that made me gain weight. Now I’m using a GLP-1 to help with that. It can have some of the same side effects as my other meds: feeling bored, not motivated, kind of “blah.” Food was my comfort, now that’s gone. BUT my bipolar is no better/worse on the medication.
