Sulphur Burps From Heck!

Okay, so here's the story. I'm starting week 3 at 0.5mg, and hadn't had any bad side effects, fingers crossed. Then, bam, last night happened.

I'm usually not burpy AT ALL. Last night as I went to snuggle with my fiance, I let loose the vilest, most sulfurous burp of my life, right in his face. We were both horrified! That was just the beginning. I then spent the next 12+ hours burping up something that smelled like the bottom of a swamp. I was doing yoga in the bathroom at 4AM just to try to move the gas somewhere else.

The culprit, the Benedict Arnold of my digestive tract? Broccoli. Seriously, be careful. If cruciferous veggies make you a little gassy normally, watch out, or you'll be downing antacids in the parking lot.

For what it's worth, the sulfur burp breakdown a few folks put together helped me figure out the timing — it's basically a week-by-week of what to expect.

I had a kale and cabbage salad for lunch one day. I had almost no side effects for months, and then BAM! Nasty sulphur burps, followed by violent vomiting later that night, and then diarrhea. Fun times!

I can't stop laughing, I'm so sorry...

Pizza crust made me burpy as heck. I would burp while sleeping and passed gas way too much...but since I'm basically three 12-year-olds stacked in a trench coat, I thought it was hilarious rather than mortifying.

I hope you can figure out a fix!

Okay, product idea/3D print idea: A small cylinder, a bit bigger than your mouth, so it seals around your mouth. Inside? A carbon filter. Burp into the cylinder, then blow the burp and some extra air *through* the filter.

Filter catches all the stink - problem solved. Portable, too!

Dairy sets mine off. Figuring out what foods trigger them, and then changing how you eat, makes a HUGE difference.

I always get the sulphur burps badly when I change doses, or if I don't drink enough water. Gas-X helps a little, but the only thing that really gets rid of them for me is drinking a LOT of water, especially the day before and the day of my shot.

I had them when I started. Now, I just burp up whatever I ate the day before. It's so strange! I had some of a bacon cheeseburger two days ago, and all day yesterday I could taste that bacon cheeseburger when I burped. Really gross!!!

I'm in my 3rd week. During my second week I woke up with burps at 5AM. It was so annoying, I had to take off my CPAP. I don’t know what I did differently.

For some people, it might not be *what* you're eating, but *how* the medication affects digestion. Ozempic can slow down your digestion, which can increase acid and cause heartburn. It's a known side effect.

That's interesting. I've heard that injecting the shot farther from the stomach (like in the thigh) might minimize some side effects. Has anyone tried that?

Well, now I'm a little scared about dose increases.

Oh joy.

Anyone know if the sulphur burps eventually subside after a dose increase?

Sulfur burps at week 3 of a dose level is the threshold response pattern - gut adapting to the higher load rather than reacting to the compound. Pepcid or ginger tend to be the first line that works; bismuth does the heavy lifting if those don't.
