Tirz and migraines?

For folks who also get migraines, what's been your experience while on Tirz? WFH has really cut down on my migraine frequency. I started Tirz around the end of June, and I've been getting migraines more often now. I used to get maybe one each month, but I've had three in the last week and a half. It could just be the added stress from my job, or maybe it's because I'm having trouble staying hydrated even though I'm drinking more water. Has anyone else noticed changes in their migraines?

My sister's been taking Tz for 3 weeks now and hasn't mentioned getting more migraines, and I'm afraid to ask her in case it jinxes it. 🤪

I'll let you know if she says anything about it.

I hope it's just temporary for you!

Possibly... I don't think it's made mine any worse! I started back in June, and in the last month or so, I've only had two migraine days, which I think are from my period. Before, I'd get them several times a month. I did use Emgality for a month, and I think that decreased them for at least a month and a half. But it's too expensive. I'm just using abortive meds now. If I only have a few days a month with migraines, I think I can say it's because of the Tirz. Also, I started taking DHEA to try and boost my hormones. That might be helping too.

I get migraines more often when I'm on TZ, but not when I was taking a compounded version (with added B12). I had more energy and fewer headaches that time. Maybe it was a lower dose, or maybe it was the B12. I'm drinking more water and taking B12 supplements now to help. I'm also thinking about lowering my dose to see if that helps too.

I am getting fewer headaches. I am also getting Botox from my neurologist, so I am doing better than before.

I get a headache for a couple of days after my injection. It happens every time. I'm wondering if it's from low blood sugar because I wake up with the headache and it lasts two full days. My blood sugar is usually normal, even when I'm not fasting.

I don't think that's it. I'm on 5 mg of tirz and I've lost only around 4 pounds in the last two and a half months. The headaches, being tired, and heartburn are the only side effects I've noticed. I don't have a ton of weight to lose, so I'm not going to stop the injections, but I'm increasing my dose in two weeks.

Before I started tirz, being a little dehydrated was normal for me and didn't cause problems. But once I started, I needed to drink WAY more water. I also keep Pedialyte in the fridge just in case.

I have suffered from very bad migraines my entire life. Most RX meds haven't helped much. I get regular adjustments from a chiropractor and acupuncture to prevent them. I was getting them maybe once a month. Then I started Tirz... and now I get them every day. It's not the kind where I lose my eyesight, but it's behind my eye and in my shoulders and neck. I asked my specialist (who knows I take Tirz), and she said that it's the hormones that are stored in the fat cells. When the fat cells shrink, those hormones and toxins flood your system. I don't have any proof, but that's what my doctor said... maybe it's something to consider.

I've had some gnarly fatigue on this stuff. The first week on 2.5 was OK, just felt wiped out on day 2. But this week after my dose, I was super nauseous and had no appetite. Yesterday felt kinda clammy, like low blood sugar even though I've been tracking it and it's normal. Anyone else?

Hey WellAF, your experience sounds rough! But

remember that the positive results make it worth it. I'm sticking with it because I like not being hungry all day. I know it's hard when the side effects are bad, but it can get better!

Adding to what ShrinkLoss said re: side effects... if you're not diabetic and your blood sugar dips, it can feel really bad until your body gets used to it. Worth checking with your doctor to be sure, though.

both times i restarted tirz i got violently sick about 36 hours after the injection. food volume cut in half right away. that's why i'm at 1.25mg every 8 days now—does what i need without the chaos. dropped 50 pounds on lower doses before insurance tanked, but i've kept it off for six months without it.

stay hydrated day before, day of, day after shot. liquid iv and pedialyte help, eat hydrating stuff like cucumbers and melon. helps with sides. i'm down 50, got 30 to go on zepbound, totally changed my life.
